With the 201st pick, the Brooklyn Superbas select CF Richie Ashburn.

While I do like other CFs picked this round a little better (Torriente, Averill), Ashburn is a far better fit on my slow, power-laden lineup. So a guy that gets on base is important when Ruth, McGwire, Campy, Kent, or Miggy come to the plate.

In his 15-year Hall of Fame career:

.308 AVG
.396 OBP
234 SB
2X Batitng champ
4X league leading OBP

And most importantly a top notch defensive CF.

Most years (9) with 400 putouts
Most years (4)with 500+ putouts
One of only 17 OFs in MLB history with 4 seasons of 15+ fielding runs.

No offense taken. I was more venting about the painful pace of this draft.

Wow, I didn't actually realize people considered Dalton's made-up holiday real. No worries though, UL Washington, wasn't criticising you or anything. You're right about the pace of the draft though: it's intolerably slow.

Hey, its a paid day off that a politician made up to get votes. What's not to like about it? Its as awesome as 'Love Day' from the Simpsons.

Hey I'm not disputing that. In fact, I wish I was working today so that I could get extra pay. I'm just surprised people actually used it for family time, haha.

Destined to go down as one of the most underrated players in history. Probably would've been my next pick if he was still on the board.

The biggest thing I've learned from this draft is that there is something called Family Day.

Had almost forgotten about him and was ready to pick someone else. Glad I had remembered him.

Sandberg isn't a bad leadoff hitter.

I like that the draft has a slower pace, makes the wait for baseball more exciting.

Vizquel actually strikes me as being much more of an effective option in the eighth slot, with Mauer in the second place in the order due to his superior on-base and contact ability.

Vizquel's 1994 season ranks as one of the worst since 1957 by a #2 hitter.

Ozzie Smith's 1979 is ranked as the worst.
