A lefty who threw a significant amount of relief innings, Burgmeier will serve as the Crawfords middle inning lefty reliever out of the pen. After spending the bulk of his career as a setup man, Burgmeier made the most of his chance to close for Boston in 1980 saving 24 games with a 2.00 ERA en route to his only appearance in the All-Star game. underappreciated for most of his career, Burgmeier unfortunately never had the opportunity to pitch in the postseason.
