The Prince Edward Island Rocket will be bringing a whole new faucet to the QMJHL. All PEIs players have been dispersed heading into Sunday's QMJHL Draft, and they are going to be building from scratch. The team may or may not receive compensation from the teams. The team has already announced that Donald Audette is the new Head Coach, and Ron Choules is the new General Manager. The team holds picks 1, 3, 17, 24, and 51 in the draft, and all five players taken will step right into the line-up.
Defensemen Jason Seed, Steve Gillard, and Patrick Downe have all signed with the Rocket. "All three of these men will have a great impact on our success as a team, and they'll be expected to bring leadership night in and night out." said GM Ron Choules. Seed will wear #6, Gillard #4, and Downe #16.
The draft results have come in, and your PEI Rocket have five new members, including the coaches son Daniel Audette. Other new members are Clark Bishop, Kameron Kielly, Duncan MacIntyre, and Timothé Simard. "These young men have tremendous potential as both hockey players and people, and it will be a pleasure to help them grow and mature, especially Dan." said Head Coach Donald Audette.
The PEI Rocket have brought in Euros Teuvo Teravainen, and Artturi Lehkonen. Both are Finnish, and are expected to carry the load of the offence this season. Teravainen is also a first round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks. Teravainen will wear #36, and Lehkonen #29.
John Hayden, Drew Michals, Chris Calnan, Adam Gilmour, Anthony Florentino have all signed to be members of the PEI Rocket. Hayden will wear #19, Michals #35, Calnan #21, Gilmour #14, and Florentino #2.
