D fail isn't a huge surprise. None of them have played, and even if the system is simpler than Hunter's it's still going to take some time to become second-nature.

Why does Boucher always look like he's talking to the voices in his head

I think Sarge gets a bad rap among our fans but with that said Erskine should be playing. Especially since they're playing 7 D instead of 6.

Don't worry guys, as we speak Ted is being told by George what a great job he's done building the roster.

Nah, we just have Schultz legally change his name to "Jeff Staal".

Don't get me wrong he qualifies as bad but our fans make him sound like a weekend non-contact mens rec league scrub.

My thoughts after 1...

Ribiero has looked great, love the way he handles the puck.
Impressed to see Ovechkin on the PK.
Like that the refs are actually calling penalties in this sport again.
Like the 1-3-1 PP set up.
Happy to see Poti out there.

Sarge needs to pretend it's game 1 VS the Rags in the 2011 playoffs or that first Dale Hunter game against the Pens from last season. Those were the only two times I remember Sarge playing physical though I'm sure theres a couple of other games.

Also am I the only one that finds it funny that Guy Boucher calls his players relentless yet employs the most passive aggressive forecheck system the league has ever seen in the 1-3-1?

Was actually about to complain about our PP then I realized our current PP conversion rate is 33.3333333333333%. lol

Still have to be careful, like I said with the Brouwer penalty, refs aren't going to want to pass up calls on the Caps after calling 3 quick penalties against Tampa in the first. Though at the same time I wouldn't object to physical play. In fact thats my mandate to the Caps. If you're going to be called for penalites have them come off physical play. No tick tack Semin like penalties.

Anyway good news, in spite of the fact that everyone looks sloppy right now, thee current play is likely not indicative of how the team will look at the end of the season. The bad news it's a short season so we need to get our act together soon.

+ Ribeiro so far...
- defense so far which is understandable

this could be a very entertaining season with 5-4 / 4-3 style games ))

and this 1-3-1 PP scheme should be automatically executed soon because everybody play the same way in it (should be)

no complaints so far

Must admit that I actually shed a few manly tears watching Poti on his first shift. Absolutely low having him back!

Ribs has looked awesome so far. He handles the puck with the same creativity as Semin, but with a lot more control. Love his performance so far.

Systems look fine, umbrella PP looks nice.

Sarge mono

Hillen looks tiny.

If Poti keeps racking up points I want him with Green. He may still be the closest thing we have had to an all situation LD.
