Not sure who or how far a guy will fall, but lately they almost always do a bit.

Hopefully we can take advantage this time, because it is nearly impossible to trade into that position. We will need to pick in the 6-12 range to get that player.
Best offensive player in the draft and could fall all the way to 15th at the draft.

Also this guy is proably going to put up 50 goals and could be available at that spot as well.

Whatever it takes to pick Barkov, who is lauded for his dedication to every zone, every phase of play. He's a two-way Mikael Granlund with size.

I love RNH, I love Gags, I'd love for us to have our own version of Jordan Staal circa Pittsburgh. I'm already dreaming of him with Paajarvi and Hartikainen.

In every thread someone always says this. No reasoning whatsoever.

I think hes the only player to put up 50 goals in the past 10 years that isn't going to go 1st overall with the exception of Jeff Skinner. Still not 100% on that stat but im trying to dig a little deeper.

Well the reasoning is that the Oilers shouldn't pick an Oil Kings player just because they are very familiar with those players. That's the reasoning.

See Mitch Moroz chosen last year as an example.

Who is he playing with?

What other prospects are of note on that team?

How does he score his goals?

I think he usually plays with Michael Beaudry but I could be wrong on that. They don't really have any other prospects of note. They have 16 year old Vincent Dunn for next years draft but no one that has been drafted high in the past. He's currently leading the team in plus minus with 20, so you don't have to worry about him just being a powerplay producer. Scouts usually label him as inconsistent. He can put up a hat trick one night and then be invisible the next night. He also has an early birthday so he can be pegged as a guy who isnt going to develop as much as other younger players. Given that a guy like Landeskog had the same issue with his birthday, I don't see it as a very valid concern. He can score goals in pretty much any way. He has a wicked wrister but can score on the backhand or even on the slap shot.

Good point. I do believe you should pick any player regardless of where they came from. It's just that someone always wants an Oil King and it gets nauseating hearing that.

They should pick players they are unfamiliar with? Mitch Moroz wasnt what any of us had in mind with that pick, many of us wanted Samuelsson, and with good reason of course, but other teams were hip to Henrik too so we didnt have the luxury of having him around at that pick.

In fact there was precious little. Many, including myself thought perhaps Dalton Thrower would have been a decent pick there. Thrower hasnt been very good at all this season.

Oilers scouting has been less than stellar over the years, but I do get a chuckle and even a little annoyed with the stats scouts on HF who say this guy should go here and that guy should definitely not go there when they havent watched either player play a ****ing game in their lives.

Its a bit much tbh.

The Oilers are among the teams watching Lindholm live in Gävle the most according to the c-more commentators on tv.

According to EA NHL 13 he is. They also had Trent Lofthouse pegged to be the next Gretzky.

Couturier and Grigorenko can fuel false hope.

I'll cross my fingers.

More incentive for someone to get that arranged.

I'm pretty sure HF would self destruct if him and Yak play together

I doubt it matters who the Oilers get... HFBoards will still be pissed at the selection.

Really? Most of us have been pretty happy with our first round picks since 2008.

I agree. I have been pretty pleased with all of the picks since 2008.

I was a guy hoping we would take Kulikov, praying not to take Glennie, and didn't think MPS would be there at 10 in '09.

Once Kadri and Glennie were picked I knew I would be happy with any of Kulikov, Cowen, or MPS, unfortunately Cowen went just before us and we didn't take the gamble with the Russian.

I was thinking this at first too, but I think he meant the other fan bases on HFboards will be pissed.

Yep, dnicks got it.

I meant other fanbases. After the Oilers choosing 3 times at #1... no matter who they choose this year, other fanbases will say the Oilers got lucky yet again.

With Tambo's luck they will steal another generational guy like Jankowski and rage will flow from every corner of the globe.
