Took less than one day for there to be a goalie controversy in Vancouver. Luongo has looked sharp tonight.
Luongo, and the Canucks overall have looked quite good tonight. I'm not sure about a goalie controversy yet though. If Schneider gets pulled in his next start, then we can talk about some issues.
A question to all of the hysterical people who think last night changed Luongo's value:
If Schneider plays well in his next start, does Luongo's trade value go way up?
Be consistent, fellas.
If he plays well against the Oilers, it doesn't matter. His contract hasn't changed. Everyone knows he's a good goalie. You need Theodore/Clemmenson or Reimer/Scrivens to play bad for his value to go up.

5 goals on 14 shots in what's suppose to be your debut start as the number 1 is enough to create a controversy.
Except for giving up a weak goal with 5 minutes left and following it with zero saves in the shootout.
Not a great game by Luongo. Big money goalie needs to stop that muffin by Hemsky.
Its a shame too because for most of the game he looked great . Up until that ridiculous Eberle disaster. WTF was that? It wasnt even a perfect off the post and in shot. It was two inches inside.
The Hemsky goal was the new vintage Luongo who simply looks skyward to justify the weak goal. This is what most goalies do, except Luongo has now done it EVERY game he has played in for a quite a while now.
Its mentally very tough to have your goalie play well........all to then let in weak ass goals. The team would rather you let in the shots that were too tough to stop, yet make the damn saves that an NHL goalie should make.
Anyways, its how Schenider stole the job from him in the first place. All we need is them BOTH acting like this.
But fear not. Its just two games. It will take a month to get their feet under them.

Eh, I thought he was good. He's usually a pretty slow starter anyway, and didn't even have the benefit of preseason this time.
He does have a tendency to give up seemingly weak goals reasonably often, but overall ends up with a top-notch save percentage, so I guess the rest of his game more than balances the weak goals out.
He's not an elite shootout goalie, so that part wasn't too surprising.
Let in 2 very weak goals. He has to stop the easy ones. Those deflate a team completely. At this point, would look at other options than Vancouver's goalies.

Your probably right his 0.931 save % tonight is pretty deflating tonight. Maybe your teams goalies can tutor him. Who do you cheer for by the way?
