I think its pretty obvious it means that the team has to buy out their current goaltender in order to fit Luongo. This also coincides with what HockeyWidow has stated before which is some teams that are interested will wait until the off-season to exercise the amnesty buyout clause. If that's the case, then I think its Philly who will make the move.

So would that mean we 'd be hanging on to Lou until the offseason or can Philly actually afford both contracts right now?

He also lauds Detroit for prospect development in the minors, and states the benefits it has with second contracts for players. I doubt we see Gaunce in the next two years, but I could be wrong.

Philly has capspace to have both Lu and Bryz on the books this yr (Pronger on LTIR) - then buy out Bryz in summer. Not sure they'd want Bryz on their team this season (maybe they waive him to minors) - under the new CBA his cap hit is still absorbed by Flyers. There'd be a player or two coming to Van - so that cap space would exit as well.

I would bet on Luongo staying until the off-season. He made it pretty clear in the interview when he said "If you asked me last May, I would've told you I wouldn't be coming back, but now I don't know considering the situation right now"

If it's Philly then I don't expect anything to happen until the off-season which is a risk if they turned up a notch with their insane depth and ended up winning the Stanley Cup. But who knows, its all speculation at this point, hell it could be someone as random as NYI.

Then replace Gaunce with Shroeder.

Luongo and Kesler for Benn?

Kesler. The guy who would play the toughest minutes as a forward on any team? The selke winner. Who is still only 28. I can't believe we've gotten so spoiled where Kesler is thrown into a ton of trade rumors. Kesler is staying on this team

And a top 5 goalie in the league?

I rather just trade Luongo and a 2nd to another team and fetch one of the many good players out there that teams might be willing to part with

Was totally spit balling, but the basis of my trade is there.

I don't like Kesler's new game. It's pretty well known.

But for your sanity..

Weiss = Luongo

Luongo + Kesler > Benn. Though, Benn > Kesler. Still, Dallas must add something for their wicked return.

DAL: Kesler, Weiss
VAN: Benn, Nystrom, Dillon, Dallas 2nd.
FLA: Luongo, Fiddler

- Thinks our secondary scoring issues will be non-existent with Booth and Kesler back
- Models Holland's philosophy of prospect development; states it's beneficial for cap reasons as well as development
- Compares the Sedins and Luongo to Lidstrom and Sundin in their ability to motivate young players and define a standard/culture throughout the dressing room
- Tiring pumping of our more heralded prospects, as well as some lesser talked about guys
- Expects to lose more veterans than usual this offseason and fill those roles from within with youth. Doesn't expect to sign any older, journeyman guys.
- Thinks the bigger bodies give the team a different look

1) Kassian to replace Burrows on the top line, to provide more balance on our 2nd line?

2) Higgins, Lapierre, Malhotra, Raymond and Alberts are our team mainstays who are UFA coming up. Could they all be gone?

Im only listening to him because I dont care to listen about NFL on 1040. Hes gotten progressively worse. Its like he cant even hear himself and what an idiot he sounds like.

He was giving it to MG because he "had 9 months" to trade Luongo. Missing the fact that discussions arent even allowed during the lockout.

I think it's clear gillis wants to get bigger and tougher to play against.

I wasn't high on voracek before but thinking of it now, he could be a terrific fit here. Still young.

And if that quote is pointing towards Kassian playing With the twins then this lineup could be amazing.

Sedin sedin Kassian
Booth kesler burrows
Higgins Lapiere voracek
Weise manny Hansen

Raymond in any deal.

That lineup is sick

Higgins and Lappiere are must re-signs. Both are key bottom 6 forwards for us.

Malhotra/Raymond/Alberts can go ride off to the sunset together. Ballard either bought out or traded for a pick.

Clear some spots for the youth movement. (Jensen,Schroeder,Corrado)

Max Lapierre is not a third line centre on a cup winning team. I know he was elevated during the '11 playoffs, but it just showed how anemic our offense was, which in the end cost us dearly.

Lapierre was one of our best forwards in the 2011 playoffs and one of the only players to show up for the SCF. But for the most part I agree. We could definitely use an upgrade. Hopefully Schroeder is able to handle those duties, or we are able to acquire Couturier for Luongo.

Ill let somebody else spitball with you on these trade proposals because even if it was a fair trade. I still would prefer Kesler. I think there are players you win with and talented players. I think kesler is one you win with. Despite if hes making it hard to find linemates for him. On top of that, i like the kassian/booth/kesler line. Theyll all be healthy again. I didn't hear much people complaining when they were and its only a matter of time until kassian will be able to stick there IMO

I rather see them try to pry another playoff guy like Hartnell off a team.

voracek would be nice too

Totally agree with you. When Philly's name first pooped up, I thought of Voracek first. Also love the fact that he plays right wing.

Although, I think it's very unlikely we get him as he pretty much apart of Philly's core now. But hey, Holmgren's done crazier things.

Edit: haha "pooped up", I need to go to bed.

To

Some KHL fans believe Tarasenko is going to be the best Russian scorer since Bure and if you've seen him play so far, it's hard to not see where they're coming from. I imagine he's probably their most untouchable piece right now. Certainly not for Schroeder, Zajac and a late 1st in addition to them giving up Oshie.

Ah, I didn't see the half-sarcasm comment. Sry.

I tried to match up the value (somewhat) and I know, we're not getting Tarasenko, but could you imagine?
