That is a highly likely scenario and I think, an excellent one. It would maximize the value of an elite asset...and a team guy who has been nothing but class deserves to get the maximum value.

Of course if we lose more than two in a row, this fan base will get pretty hysterical.

Besides having big brass, Gillis is going to have to be a little hard of hearing as well.

Reimer stood on his head for most of the game. It helps to watch the game and not just look at the stats.

i think it was obvious he didn't watch the game (or even look at the boxscore) when he said reimer let in 5 goals

I did watch the game-
Claiming Reimer stood on his head is a joke. Most of the shots in the first 2 periods were weak attempts & given that it was the leafs 3rd game in 4 nights & the fact they jumped out to a quick lead the 3rd period collapse was forseeable.Just because the NYR had 40+ shots & Reimer let in 4 (only) doesn't mean he stood on his head.A 40+ shot shutout is standing on your head.

He did well until he let in a goal then it kinda of got shakey. That has more to do with experience then anything else.

Yeah he was hardly the reason for the Leafs losing the game; but it wasn't like he has "light's out either". He did his job - too bad the rest of the team didn't.

Dion Phanuef was horrific.

Dion playing 32 minutes in one game just boggles my mind.

I am not sure how coachable this guy is, but playing even a Lidstrom-in-his-prime that amount of time is bad coaching.

it was both teams 3rd game in 4 nights & the Rangers wanted it more.

When Phaneuf is bad, he's equivalent to a poor man's Ed Jovanovski.. but dumber.

Garrison: 0 goals, 0 assists +2
Phanuef: 0 goals, 1 assist -8 (worst +/- in the league)

EDIT:

Also just noticed that Ryan Suter is at 0 goals, 3 assists, -5... not stellar for a $7+ mil d-man...

Sort of, except LeBrun also confirmed the report with Gillis the following day. I'd imagine it's not a "done deal" but more of a "that's interesting -- if we figure out what we're doing with Player X, maybe we can talk about that deal a bit more", rather than an in-the-bag scenario.

Don't think so. We're 5 games in and I'm reading a lot of Garrison hate already.

More than anything, I took it to mean that there's a "framework" agreed to (as in, what the deal would look like, the type of pieces that would need to be involved, has been agreed to by a team - subject to "financing")... something like the breakthrough when the owners and players started speaking the same language... Still, need things to be done to actually get to a deal, but at least talking the same language, and exploring further... What is a good prospect (given available on your team)? What is a useful roster player (given available on your team)? What is a good pick (given available on your team)? Talking the same language / same definitions...

I would expect no less from Gillis...he's waited this long, and there really is no panic at the moment. Once we get Kesler and Booth back he can make a better evaluation of the team and then decide how he wants to proceed.

You might be mistaking "hate" for an accurate evaluation of his play thusfar...he hasn't been very good.

So Kessel (Tor), Perry (Ana), O'Reilly (Col) and a few other impact forwards are all rumoured and rumbling to be on the move....three way?

Kessel to Colorado

Luongo (significant + from Colorado, smaller + from Vancouver) to Toronto

O'Reilly ($5 million is his requested salary) to Vancouver

Bah, all the pieces are there, make your own joke.

this season, yes.

next season, no - unless we get rid of a couple good 3rd,4th liners and start heading in the direction of more top heavy team. it would require us giving the boot to higgins, raymond and lapierre or something like that

since we were going to get rid of 1 of them already.

and canucker is right, hes not getting 5 million

There is no way O'Reilly should be getting $5m per year...If thats what he wants I hope Colorado lets him sit.

^ This.

I would want him to prove that last year wasn't a fluke before dishing out $5 mil per year on him.
