look back at Kovalchuck trade that did not Happen!!!

I feel so good Atlanta didn't bite for our offer, as without Markov, Komisarek we wouldn't have such a great future blueliner upfront on blueline, and add to that mix Perhezogin who will most likely make team as top six forward in few years, and Garon has been proving consistently and has finally won the backup job, I know Kovalchuck is future 50 goal scorer, but I feel our team needs special preferences on defence and size rather then offence as we haven't found great defence for years, and now it seems possible, and if perhezogin continues his progress he could easily become consistent 35 goal scorer, and though Garon is somewhat anigma he could turn out to be better talent then great Theo.

Who knows, maybe Kasistyn or Perezhogin will turn into a star in the league one day

Yep. We would have had one 50 goal scorer, and a prime ticket to the #1 pick this year if that trade had gone down. Glad it didn't happen. I'd rather keep our core of good young players.

this non-trade was good for both teams.

Sometimes, the best trades are the ones you don't make.

Very true.
I must've missed this, but when were "talks" for this trade taking place?

In 2001...the few days leading into to the draft... Finally, the Thrashers decided to keep their pick, and the rest is history

Yah! At that time it would had been more ''easy'' to get Dany Heatley then Kovalchuk but now Heatley is better.

BTW wasn't Rucinsky in that deal too?

I believe Mr. October was involved, not Rucinsky.

no one else was involved but

Atlanta really wanted Theo then garon thats where the trade talks stopped, as Theodore was just coming into his prime Savard didn't want to part with him, may be it was good move as Theo won best players award following that draft to put montreal in playoff.

Maybe Atlanta would not have draft Komi and Zhogin with the 7th and 25th pick...We can't take a look at this trade saying that Komi and Zhogin were in the trade...

I always heard that at the last minute Theodore replaced Garon in the deal but the thrashers didn`t bite either way it`s tuff to say if this was a good move for the habs. Garon is our Backup Perezhogin hasn`t played a game in the NHL and Komisarek has played around 25 NHL games, Markov is our number 1 defenceman but Kovalchuck`s almost scored 100goals and he`s 20-21 years old. I`m also happy that the trade wasn`t made but it`s not like Montreal were the clear winners in this trade...if Markov had`nt been involved montreal would have been the losers big time.

That's Mr. first-two-weeks-of-October you meant to say...don't worry about it: we all make mistakes

No, the first two weeks of october he's by far the best, but he's still playing at a very high level 2 weeks into November, its just all downhill from thewre though.
