I'm not saying it's not marked up, but I highly doubt a bag made in Canada with genuine Italian leather only costs 15 dollars to make.

A long time ago, i decided to stop supporting/buying things made in China or other Asian countries, I would pay full price for it, but I bought it when they had a 50 dollar off sale. Roots leather is top notch and worth every penny in my books. I bought my gf a roots leather purse she picked out as well, top quality, and no shes looking at the weekend bags, which again, are top quality. all made in Canada, whats not to like?

Backpack. Although if I could bring a hockey bag to work, it would be pretty awesome.

What a waste of money. $268 for a bag? A BAG.

I've used my backback every day for the past 8 years. That breaks down to like one cent a day.

Or, you've been financing a bag for roughly $20 a month.

I'd love to get a badass metal briefcase. I'd look nuts carrying one to school though. I doubt when I'm working I'll need to bring papers home (who uses paper?) so I guess I'll fill it with sandwiches. I'll bring a dozen sandwiches with me when I go shopping to see how they fit.

I'm all for people buying Canadian-made durable products but it'll be awhile longer before he can say it's cost effective. If you enjoy it more knowing it wasn't made by slaves, that's worth something though.

The most id ever pay for a bag is $20 tops. Im cheap when it comes to bags. For many years up until about 4 years ago, I used to carry my stuff in a plastic grocery bag.

None of these. Where is the other option? Even though I now carry Tory Burch exclusively, I still use my trusty black Dooney & Bourke tote that has lasted me years.

I agree, too many bad experiences with cheap overseas-made products. Buy quality and it will last forever (or close to it). If you keep it for 10 years, then $260 doesn't sound unreasonable.

Leather railway bag from J.Crew. Looks better every day as it gets broken in.

Best bags are from Saddleback. Expensive as hell but come with 100 year warranty.

Quote:
Every piece of Saddleback Leather is designed for lifetimes of satisfaction. In fact, I believe in my leather so strongly that I guarantee your satisfaction and warranty every one of my products against defects in materials and workmanship for 100 years. If you, one of your descendants or any other Saddleback Leather product owner (regardless of how you acquired the product) should have a problem with one of my designs, let us know. We will take care of you.

Whether or not you buy a leather piece from us, you need to understand leather so you don't get burned. After reading this short page, you'll know why some bags are so expensive and some aren't. You'll know why some leather cracks and tears quickly and some doesn't. And you'll also know what to look for and what to look out for. Nice, fully tanned leather is vital to maintaining Saddleback Leather Company's good name and happy leather family, so please read on.

The difference between high and low grade leather is like the difference between a Porsche and a Dodge. They both look great on the outside, but quickly you'll be able to tell which one cost a lot to make and which one didn't.
Probably get one sooner or later.

whoa... never mind then. J Crew in general isn't too badly priced, so thought they might have one for a decent price. Would love a workbag like that, but will apparently have to keep looking.

Trudy, down at the Help Desk.

She's an old bag, but kinda friendly nonetheless.
