If you want to laugh at someone, laugh at McLean for suggesting Burrows.

Secondly, If you cant tell the difference between guys on the same team, who are winning a game and leading their division having a laugh on the bench and 2 guys on opposing teams who are both "fighting" for a playoff spot having a laugh together, then I just don't know if you'll ever "get it".

Well said.

When it comes to actual real hockey (not the grandstanding) he's usually right. From icing to equipment safety to faceoffs, he's bang on time and time again. Sadly it takes either decades of minor things or one major thing for anyone to listen.

If Cherry is usually/always right about real hockey, as so many of his fans like to suggest, then why was the team he owned, managed, and coached a complete and utter disaster?

It's quite hard to get every player you want on an expansion team.

Just ask the GM of any NHL expansion team how long it takes before you are competitive.

That's a cop-out when one considers just how abysmally awful Cherry's team was and how long they were that bad for.

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous logic. If all your opinions are right, that mean you can easily build a Memorial Cup champion? Or even a decent team?

When did I say this?

The fact of the matter is the last time Cherry had control over a team it set records for futility. Not exactly what one would expect from someone who's always/mostly right about "real hockey".

The same reason some people are better at consulting than they would ever be running a top 50 Forbes.

The same reason that the best player that ever lived was a poor coach, too.

Because Cherry hasn't adapated to a changing game. He still believes its the 70's.

The Ice Dogs were a complete disaster.

Yes,the team was terrible. The Ice Dogs went for their first four years out of the playoffs and then squeaked in on the fifth and weren't too bad from that point on.

Not being able to run a hockey team doesn't nessessarily mean that you nothing about hockey.

I've met the guy a couple of times at my kid's hockey games and he does seem like a pretty normal guy.

He's also admitted in interviews over the past several years that some of his earlier opinions and stances are simply not correct anymore. I'm sure that plays somewhat of a factor - dinosaur that he can be, opinions can change. But I love the old guy all the same!

Exactly! Though I'm sure CBJ fans may have something to say about Doug MacLean and Scott Howson.

It's not a Coaches Corner without a hamster singing The Hockey Song in a Toronto Marlies jersey.

Big shocker...Cherry justifying Canada's role in the brawl instead of turning the other cheek

Looking forward to the weekly group of people who hate Don Cherry, yet watch the Coach's Corner and feel the need to come post in this thread. I welcome all comers...

First time I've heard of this Durham cop who got killed - for those of you who think Cherry is out of touch, you can at the very least acknowledge his segment is worth something just for that...
