Scoring is down again. Avg of 3.3 goals/game from last night's 3 games and not much going now minus Washington's poorly organized defence.

He's made a few panic moves and overrated certain players but I wouldn't put all the blame on him. I think Backstrom/Ovy have to take responsibility of their play.

How's that even possible, I turned to the game off with 30 seconds to go.

I'm just going to watch Buffalo instead.

I laugh at the Cap fans who say they don't need Varlamov. Except you Chibi!

Also I think Oates got a coaching job way too early.

Yes he is. And even with his godlike offensive capabilities he is actually very good defensively. He has developed a lot in that area.

I actually got the honor of being able to watch him in Finland during the lockout and the way he used the other players as standing bollards was something that everyone should be able to see at least once.
And what was funny, was that we could see when his performance was at 20%, or at 50%, or at 100%.
When it was 20% he was as good as the best other D in our team.
When it was at 50% he scored a goal and was our best d-man.
When it was 100% he scored 5 points and demolished the other team all by himself.

It's great that Karlsson's stint in Finland has maded him as loved there as he as in Sweden and Ottawa. People who actually watch him play understand that he isn't overrated.

I remember watching Scott Niedermayer at a Ducks/Avs game and was floored at how good he was--the guy was everywhere. He jumped up into the play all the time, yet never, ever got caught out of position. I'll have to buy tix to the next Sens/Avs game in Denver if Karlsson's anything like that.

I've watched him play live, 3 times since last season and he's been unimpressive in all of them.

The Buffalo Vaneks! He's been on fire what a player.

Shattenkirk is still awesome offensively but not very good defensively.

Speaking of bad goaltending, Brian Elliott has crashed back to earth after playing a mile over his head last season.

Blue Jackets would have three top 10 picks, WOW!
That would be awesome... next year

LW = Landeskog, Nichushkin, McGinn
C = Stastny, Duchene, O'Reilly
RW = Parenteau, Jones, Downie

Killer top 9 ... who needs defense, we'll just win 10-9 every game

I agree with you. He had defensive flaws in college and with us that I think have been covered up by a strong defensive system. I always find it funny how his reputation skyrocketed the day he was traded. He went from being some nobody who was playing over his head to "the next Brian Rafalski" over night.

It's a bit late, but I love the kind of goals Malkin scored. Bad angle, pick the far corner and leave a surprised goalie behind.

Well I still think he can be the next Rafalski. Rafalski put up points but he was never that good defensively.

Er....we're using Johnny Malkin on the 2nd line.

I knew that Phx would come back down to earth at some point, that crap roster will eventually catch up to you. I didn't expect it to happen so soon to Stl. Maybe if we're lucky, the players there have already gotten tired of Hitchcock and the Blues won't be a contender.

Leafs fan here, it's awesome to see you guys continuing with that nickname

For those who don't know, it's John Mitchell.

No doubt he is a better hockey player for the Blues though. It's hard to say if would become as well known if he stayed on the Avs. Take for example, he has 9 assists this season, 6 of which are secondary. He just wouldn't have the same point totals on the Avs. He'd for sure help an abysmal powerplay though. -11 on the Avs, +7 on the Blues in the same season. Getting traded was probably the best thing that happened to him.

Pietrangelo is just piling up the points. Just seems like he doesn't not score, or set up a goal each game. St. Louis is damn lucky. He's going to get a nice big fat payday this summer.
