I'd say 1g 17a 18p while averaging 27+ min per game is doing pretty well. The Wild just don't see to have much defensive depth. Brodin is good and will be great in the future. Gilbert and Spurgen are okay, but being over used. Everybody else is barely NHL level.

It was a interference call, but there is nothing about the hit that felt dirty to me.

Stuart's hit on Landeskog was a "head hit", but was clean.

Suit yourself. I don't see how you can say he didn't target the head.

And Stuart's hit was dirty for the exact same reasons.

I haven't been impressed by Couturier this year. I don't really see the 70 point potential some claim he has. He does work hard enough and is solid defensively.

Flyers are one of the teams that could completely bottom out a year and then bounce back next season as if nothing happened. They already did when drafting JvR and it's looking like they might do it again this year.

You mean the offseason they added Timonen, Hartnell and Briere, and when Richards/Carter broke out?

They won't have the cap space to do that, their defense is average and unless their guys really break out... they won't be a whole ton better.

Jackets 5-0-4 in last 9

6-3-4 in last 13, those 3 loses, all by 1 goal to ANA, STL, CHI

The wonders a management change can make.

In other news, Stewie is lighting it up right now for STL. 3pt night tonight puts him up to 26pts in 27games.

That was the 1st NHL fight for both of them, but Oleksy debuted just a few games ago. Started the year in the ECHL, and twice now since he's been called up he's led the Caps D in minutes. Pretty cool story at age 27.

I played with this guy (and Richard Bachman) in minor hockey. I must say he was always a step ahead of everyone else, both mentally and physically.

Bachman was a late bloomer, because he wasn't nearly as good as he is today compared to minor hockey.

Is the Sacco curse (of making inexplicable lineup decisions) contagious? I think I may have caught it and spread it to the Caps board and from there to Adam Oates.

Aaron Volpatti, recently claimed off waivers, will be the team's 1LW in Boston with Ovechkin and Backstrom.

Steve Oleksy, who started the season in the ECHL and was brought up like 8 games ago, has already led the team in ice time twice.

He definitely has one philosophy in common with Sacco--he rewards effort above all other things. I feel more for Oates than I do Sacco--I think Oates was handed a poorly-built roster with no depth to speak of. Sacco was handed a sub-par roster that he's somehow managed to make worse.

Also, putting Ovechkin and Ribeiro on the same team is akin to putting Nikki Sixx and Kurt Cobain in a poppy field and expecting things to go smoothly.

With Calgary and Edmonton winning tonight it really solidifies our spot as worst of the West.

I'm 100% for the tank, as long as it means getting rid of Sacco at the end of the season.

Unfortunately if that's what it's gonna take, and I think more and more as the season goes on that this is the case, then so am I.

Rangers - Penguins is a good example of why hits isn't that important a stat. Rangers are being completely dominated but lead 14-3 in hits. It's because they never have the puck and have to chase Penguin players all the time.

Wonder how receptive the Penguins would be to moving Despres. He looks pretty damn good this year for the Pens.

Would be a good young kid to work our PP.
