Edmonton hanging in against LA.

I don't know what it is, rooting for the underdog perhaps. But I'm becoming a closet Oil fan. Add I saw so many of them rooting for us when we had to play the habs west in the finals. That, and everyone I've ever met from Edmonton has hockey on the soul. Spent an entire west coast flight talking to a native edmontonian a/b hockey in an otherwise stuffy 1st class. Dude saved me, b/c I despised flying at the time.

Just odd b/c I still remember them crushing us twice in the finals.

Oilers/kings needs more penalties.

I think there's been about 38 seconds of 5 on 5

Lock out didn't address one of the biggest probs in this game. Horribly inconsistent officiating.

It's as if the notion is; ok if we make one bad call we have to keep making equally bad calls to justify the first one. And people wonder why players are diving all over the place.

The crowd is mad. That's just unbelievable that they reversed the call. But in the end I think they at least got it right.

Well, sorta. It wasn't in the crease like I think they called it, but the cross check that led to all should've been called first.

Probably not a goal, so they get it right. What a badly officiated game tho. No wonder Oil fans think they got robbed.

Holy crap. Nail ties it up anyway with 7 seconds to go. Where was LA's defense?

That goal's gonna stay this time. Wow.

Perfect face-off by Belanger, he looked like Bergeron.

Lazy Mike Richards. I hope the Oilers win the game on the PP.

Unreal.

I think with that loss, LA and Washington are the only two teams still without points.

Oilers got the shaft. Their forward gets plowed into Quick, the guy makes every effort to get out of the crease, he does, but his skate is stuck on Quick's pad strap. Tying goal called back. Oil fans go ape, litter ice. They can't make that call when a Dman drives you into his own goalie, sorry.

Yakupov ties it anyway, they win in OT.

Fitting ending.

Amazing how fast the ice stays in Edmonton late into periods. It should be that way in every rink. It's 2013 for christ's sake.

Edmonton is exciting to watch. Fast with so much raw skill. That PP will be unstoppable soon. Their re-build is over, IMO. It's grooming time. With any kind of decent goaltending I think they are contending by next season.

I think they're going to have to bite the bullet, move some (at least one) of that youthful talent for key vets and role players, including a tender. Playoffs will be a whole new learning curve once they start qualifying, especially b/c they're so young.

But yeah, they have the potential to become another Pittsburgh. Scary.
