Simple the Habs are bad at D, Diaz with 60 games, Iemelin with 67 games cannot be considered
legitimate NHLers, sorry for using the wrong word....

Kaberle cannot adapt to another system, perfect picture for a guy like Subban looking for a new deal!!!

Remember "No excuses".

That's a funny OP, but all joking aside, I'd love to get Subban on the Bruins. I love his attitude, skillset and bravado.

I just don't see the teams trading with each other.

Maybe when PK's a UFA in a couple years...

I understand the point you were trying to make but just for the record it was a terrible comparison because there is a much larger potential gap between Malkin/Galchenyuk compared to Subban/Hamilton which probably warranted his response. There is a pretty good possibility that Hamilton could become just as good or even better than Subban and we all know that Galchenyuk probably won't be even on par with Malkin.

It's a fair starting point, but I think Montreal would need/demand more, especially if it gets to a point where you have several teams putting offers on the table...it could drive up the price. But I don't think this deal is that far off.

Wild have very little cap space this year, and the whole not being in cap-hell the next few years depends upon our young kids producing for cheap. We can't even afford to have Plekanec without montreal taking on salary.

Also Wild don't need another NHL center right now.
Koivu
Granlund
Brodziak
Konopka
(also Cullen is playing Wing right now)

I'm sure Subban would be an upgrade over Brodin right now, but Brodin costs less going forward and is going to be in the NHL once he rehabs from the broken Collarbone. We're VERY excited to see him play and there's no reason not to be patient.

Doesn't make sense from a Wild POV.

Who starts a rebuild by trading their 23-year old #1 defenseman? I wouldn't mind trading Plekanec but Subban is untouchable.

Yep. A lot of what will be considered "fair value" will depend on whether or not he actually intends on signing with the Habs. It could get to a point where there is bad blood, and if people know they have to move him to get something in return, then that could lower the price. Like I said before, several teams vying for him could raise the price. I think in a normal situation where two teams are trading two players under contract, obviously Subban for Hagelin or Subban for Kreider straight up isn't going to get it done, and you're right, normally you start with Kreider and go from there, but this is not a normal situation. So, we'll see what type of value Montreal can get for him. He's a great player.

This is bad for both teams. MTL would get back a top 6 winger who only has one year of experience in exchange for a #1 d man. NYR don't need another #1 - they have girardi, staal and mcdonagh, all of whom could be first pairing d men and debatably number ones on different teams. NYR needs a second/third pairing guy IMO. The salary on the back end would be unsustainable with subban. As much as I think he's a great player, I don't think NYR is the right team for him.
