I think you mean weeks of bad proposals...Habs wont trade PK unless some GM gives a HUGE overpayment!

Are you talking about Subban with this comment or am I totally missing something here? Serious question.

The salary on the back end would be unsustainable with subban. As much as I think he's a great player, I don't think NYR is the right team for him.
Any team would love to add another #1 d-man, it's the price of doing so that's the issue. McDonagh - Subban would be an incredible pairing that we could hang onto for the next decade.

Like I said before, several teams vying for him could raise the price. I think in a normal situation where two teams are trading two players under contract, obviously Subban for Hagelin or Subban for Kreider straight up isn't going to get it done, and you're right, normally you start with Kreider and go from there, but this is not a normal situation. So, we'll see what type of value Montreal can get for him. He's a great player.
The contract thing isn't so much about bad blood, its just a matter of a team liking to do things a certain way, Mtl giving guys 2 year deals after ELC, and a guy like Subban wanting market value, ex Carlson, Fowler, Meyers, Skinner, all good 5-6 year deals after their ELC.

So for teams that don't care about allow a guy become a ufa early on in their career, signing Subban might not be an issue.

Strome and Reinhart have Lots of potential, but they are still only Prospects.

Subban and Plex are proven players. I dont think the HABS would do this deal

That's understandable. I was talking more about it becoming apparent to other teams at some point that he just is not going to sign with Montreal, thus decreasing the leverage that Montreal has in trading him for fair value. In other words, it could get to the point where Montreal feels it HAS to trade him, so at that point, I'm not sure you will always get "fair" value for a player. But this is all hypothetical. Chances are they figure it out and he signs. They are a better team with him.

I always try to remember that Gainey at least managed to get us Gorges and Pacioretty for Rivet to soften the blow.

Again IF you value Bergy as a second line and that's it !!!! U don't deserve to have him ...

IF you think PK is a #1 D in the NHL ..that's good then sign him for his 6mill and get it over with

Not that I wouldn't want Subban, but in this case I just it's just too much of a shake-up. I think the Bruins would just assume go with what they've got and see how Hamilton develops.

Yeah, true, but you need to build a whole team. Having 4 #1 dmen is unsustainable, and it's unnecessary given that defense hasn't been NYRs weakness in a while save for these two awful games where they sucked at pretty much everything. IMO, they need to get a good offense that they can hang on to for a few years in a row.

I'd love to have a D like that, I just don't realistically see them being in the market for another top pairing d man when they've already got a surplus, the cap is going to be tight in the future and their glaring weakness is the bottom pair. Just my two cents. Also, he'd cost a lot more than Hagelin.

The islanders trade might be good but we don't know how those 2 will develop just yet, the Wild one I would hang up pretty fast

Boston might need to throw in Rask, Seguin and Chara to get the GOAT defenceman PK SUBBAN.

Way too lopsided for the Habs. Subban has been known to participate in various media events and there are rumors that he isn't best friends forever with all of the guys in the dressing room. He can't play the white way and he wears a stupid number. For those reasons, Subban isn't worth much more than a 9th round pick in 2017.

Wild laugh and hang up the phone. Brodin is off-limits and we have neither the contract space nor the cap space to be adding either of those guys.

Wow. That would solve nearly all of the Islanders problems personnel problems in one shot. Of course it can't happen.

Cheers,
