However if I had a choice of keeping Subban or trading him for either Couturier or B Schenn I'd rather keep Subban since he fills a bigger need for the Habs.

I'd prefer having the top pairing 23 year old dman who can play upwards of 30 minutes a night in all situations against the other teams best players but that's just me maybe.
You are not alone. I feel the same way.

I am a Habs fan but I am realistic.

I am so tired of Meehan's bs tactics now so if this drags on for 10 more games, there's no doubt in my mind that Subban will be traded.

If the Habs have a winning record and the defence continue its strong play, i can see Bergevin waiting till Subban is tired of sitting home and accept the deal he's offered by the Habs.

that is not very realistic

The best thing that could possibly happen to Pernell would be to play on the 2nd pairing, behind superior defensemen, of whom there are plenty in this league. HeŽd make a heckuva d-corps addition if he wasnŽt looked to as the top dog.

wouldnt that be true of all d-men? They would be better if they played behind someone better.

Why stop your dreaming there? Imagine if Seguin could get a chance to play for an organization that has a tradition of being classy winners. Personal development would be off the charts.

I did not say I would do it personally. I asked the question on what other people thought of that potential offer. I would much rather Subban but I would also like to have a player on a decent contract and not another overpaid player on the team.

First one isn't even close.

Second one can be worked into something.

I think MTL would prefer a winger OR a defenseman to a couple centres. We've got a lot at C right now in Desharnais, Plekanec, Galchenyuk, and Eller.
We would have to add to get Benn, I don't think it would be a lot but he is pretty incredible.

If the Habs were to trade Subban, I imagine they would much prefer send him in the Western Conference unless an Eastern team sends a jaw-dropping offer the Habs couldn't pass on.

Would Detroit be interested in Subban?

There's hardly 20 defensemen that are superior to Subban at the moment. I wouldn't call that "plenty".

Of course we would. But we don't have the assets. We can't give up on this years 1st for example.

We dont have 2013 1st, and i dont think MTL wants 2014 1st, and Del zotto has a really good contract, so no here to.

I was assuming the 2014 first in the scenario with DelZotto, but my first proposal of Kreider, Eminger, and a pick would be more than fair. Problem for MTL is that Eminger would be stopgap. MTL couldn't count on Eminger beyond this season.

My logical mind sees MTL giving PK what he wants.

Eminger is a 7th D, why should MTL want Kreider who doesnt even have showed us all that he is good in the NHL.

Subban is a TOP 2 D, it requires more than that to get Subban
