Grant Woods leading (new) ownership group to (try to) buy Coyotes

Former Arizona Attorney General and well-known Phoenix trial attorney Grant Woods is the latest name to pop up in the Phoenix Coyotes ownership drama.

Woods is working with some new and perhaps recycled bidders for the financially challenged and NHL-owned franchise, according to officials familiar with the Coyotes machinations.

I would like to say there's an ounce of creditbility on this one until I read a line in between the headline and the content of the article.

The revolving door of prospective names keeps going. Days after it seems Gallagher is dismissed as a bidder a new one spawns

If the NHL and the COG are pinning their hopes on Grant Woods getting a deal done, well...let's just say...expect more of the same.

Or just what I predicted, just a name to pop up to keep locals hopeful about a deal that'll never happen, in order to keep the few that remain coming.

And this will keep repeating until there are no more games left to sell tickets for. For 18 months all we hear about is one owner... Jamison. And now that his deal died, we are suppose to believe all of the sudden there are people everywhere interested. The same thing happened in Atlanta.

I am a bit surprised by the "lifetime" of potential bidders, shorter then ATL IMHO

In Atlanta, there was the Balkan, one supposedly lead by Anson Carter. From I recall there were reports of 5 bidders, then 3, then 2.

So I'm curious to see next to come on down and play the Price is Right for the Yotes...actual retail price? I'll bid $1.00.....just for a chance to spin the wheel

What the hell. I'll cheer for Grant Woods this time. Who can not like such an incredible underdog?

Go Grant Go.

When the Atlanta situation was over Bettman stated that there had been 22 potential buyers. Only 4 or 5 made it to prime-time though.

Does this means that this ''new'' potential ownership group will not need an AMF, or will take one only as high as they know GWI will not even take a look at.

Well, if Grant Woods is alledgedly still representing Anthony LeBlanc...

Quote:
Canadian marketing executive Anthony LeBlanc, who previously headed another group interested in buying the Coyotes, said a new deal with the city would be critical for any potential buyer.

“Look, the reality is that any potential owner, myself included, will require a deal with the city that is very, very similar to the one that was on the table over the last several months,” he told The Arizona Republic.

LeBlanc declined to say whether he considered himself a potential owner now and he declined further comment. He previously headed Ice Edge Holdings, which tried but didn’t succeed in purchasing the team in 2010.
Or maybe Steve Ellman wants another go at it

Grant Woods sounds like the protagonist in a bad Brett Easton Ellis novel.

I guess none of these people wanted to be investors with Jamison, they just wanted the team themselves
