They see a lot more than just numbers when looking at him.

I'm on the fence for this one. It's a pretty huge gamble. This deal could go down as a huge steal or a huge flop, or anything in between.

I think what Lupul re-signed for was a very fair deal and I'm very happy to know he will be back.

We'll see it soon enough.

I hope we sign Bozak and Kessel soon.

Bozak is a solid player, deserves a 2-3 year deal IMO.
Kessel can't be signed until the offseason.

Man...All we can do now is hope that Lupul plays closer to what he did last season. Seems like a lot of money though. This is a man who hasn't played over 70 games since 08/09, and has put up over 50 points only twice in his career. He will be 34 when this deal expires, so by that point there is a good chance he will be on the decline.

But I must say, IF he can stay healthy and IF he can play the way he did last season, than this is a good deal.

No trade deadline distractions for Lupes now. And getting that contract will push him to step up his game and take a leadership roll on a young team.

Good deal. He shows up every night, and we have no reason not to expect the same consistency. He plays with passion, and has proven that he wants to be in the NHL. You don't flinch at extending players with qualities like that.

Given his age, I like the term, and I like that we'll still be able to move him if the need arises.

Krejci was an RFA.

He should be an integral part of our lineup for years to come. Hopefully this encourages Kessel to re-sign as wel.

It's a little more than I thought and even a little sooner than I would have signed him but I am glad to have him under contract for the next 5 years and I'm ok with it.

Good thing we are rich enough to waive him if he sucks it up.

But I doubt it - he's playing with Kessel and they have good chemistry. And he'll get plenty of minutes.

Would you rather have let him go to market?

haha that's a broadcaster saving your behind comment if I've ever heard one.

The term scares me a bit because he hasn't played close to a full season since 2006. I like what he's brought to the team and he got given the "A" on his jersey, so you know that he's a good prescence in the room.

Lupul clearly got a vote of confidence from the Nonis Management group, wonder if Burke would have made the same deal?

Burke did trade him twice as a GM, Nonis is betting on Lupul's character to earn the 5.25M.

I think Joffrey is a character guy, now he has to go out and prove he deserves the big contract.

The going price for UFAs now tends to be about 1m per 10 points. If Lupul can continue to get 55+ points a year its a solid contract. I think he can manage that.

Except he can't contribute to the team if he's injured. He hasn't played over 70 games in 4 years and has only had one good year. Unnecessary gamble. Could've waited a bit.

if he puts up a point per game again and were to test free agency, he'd get 6 million a year
