Very impressive GDT. Very eager to see Mikhail Grigorenko go up with the likes of Giroux and Sean Couturier, two guys that us Sabre fans are desperately hoping that Grigorenko will turn out to be like.

Ott and Kaleta? This team will be easy to dislike. In this shortened season these are the games the Flyers have to win.

Flyers need this win for their confidence going forward. I expect a drop in intensity in the 3rd though all things considered. Very excited for more hockey. Right now I'm a total junkie that needs his fix but i just can't seem to get enough.

Great GDT as always MSE, hopefully the boys come out and aren't flat for the first period, liked the effort in the 2nd and 3rd today, the PP has to be better, everybody needs to step it up, tough turn around against a game team, let's get after it JAM JAM JAM

I expect a different result from this game and the Pens game yesterday.
Crosby
Malkin
Sutter
vs
Hodgson
Ennis
Grigorenko
Quite a contrast in the first two games. Honestly - I've never bought the Sabres - everybody said they were so good starting last season. I think they need a culture change with that team. Lindy Ruff is like Andy Reid with celiac's disease. There is really no excuse for such little success when you have a player like Miller in net. I am a big fan of Miller and I feel bad for the guy - not only has he been playing for a dolt for years - he also has to live in Buffalo half the year. Buffalo - it's like Scranton with extra snow.
And Tyler Myers is vastly overrated.

I love brayden schenn and understand it was only one game, but he was largely invisible out there today. I'd like to see us change the lines a bit:
Simmonds Giroux Read
Hartnell Couturier Voracek
Schenn Laughton Talbot
Wellwood Fedotenko Rinaldo
Pairings seemed just fine today for the defense. Luke was impressive to me, while Kimo didn't appear too stellar. Mez definitely helps...

If Laughton can limit/shut down Grigorenko, that'll be a nice F U for not getting chosen to the Canadian WJC team (who didn't medal thanks to Grigorenko and the Russians)

I dont know, I'd prob keep Hartnell on the 1st line and put Voracek with them if anything. At the same time, it's only been one game.

Read certainly has the will and hockey IQ to be a solid complementary player.
What can people not say about a extremely hard nosed grinder like Simmonds (not to mention a devoted teammate)
Both are excellent choices to play on Giroux's line.
One thing I do believe is (and this carries over from last season) Simmond's needs to hnag out in front of the net more. This is where he excels.
He started doing it more in the 3rd period yesterday, but was missing for the majority of the game.

I still think we should have gotten Semin for Giroux's wing.

I don't think semin is the player he once was and is too risky for any team to bring on at this point I believe on a mulit year deal
That being said, I think eventually we are going to have to pair Giroux with a player that can make the game easier on him and that can play the game at his level. Jagr was that at times last year. This Year? I have no clue. Maybe Voracek can be that guy in the future.

I think we played great for most of the game yesterday. If Simmonds didn't pull it or Adams didn't make a goal line save we win. We were close. I think we take this although wont be easy that looks like a tough lineup to play against.
I think jake needs some one on one attention with his position and where he goes without the puck. Noted a few things that he doesn't do which negates his skill

Giroux was the only center in O&B with a positive faceoff stats last night against the Pens. That and the PP need to be improved drastically.

We should have kept Jagr instead of chasing a reluctant Parise. But forget about the offseason, let's make the best out of it now!

Agree with everything here. Miller wasn't that great last year though. Don't think he has much time left there, the post-Olympic Captain America thing has worn off.

My reasoning for it is this: of all the forwards, Read probably impressed me the most yesterday. He was fast and shifty as usual, but he also started to throw his body around. Likewise, Hartnell looked out of place and like there was a hole in his stick so I was looking to slot G with his slightly younger, tanner counterpart who offers a very similar skill set. Simmer looked awesome yesterday other than that 3rd period miss.
