Anyone see Simmonds get looped by Erskine's elbow?

Blues got jobbed by that Backes call. A beautiful open ice hit (shoulder to chest) and he gets 5 and a game. Detroit scores on the ensuing PP and wins the game.

That was pretty bad. So blatant and no call.

Marchand hard into end boards. Looks to be the shoulder. His nose, is ok.

how did he manage to hit his shoulder? The nose should of cushioned the impact.

The Leafs have Orr and McClaren, but Fraser keeps taking all their fights against the Bruins. 0-2 on the night for the Leafs. Hoping for a few more bouts amongst our two lovely NE division friends.

I expect Stoll to get a call from Shanahan for that jersey tug and boarding of Fowler. No penalty on the play as the ref was facing the other direction and then got submarined by a fallen Fowler, but not only did Stoll tug on the back of his jersey to pull him in, he then planted Fowler into the dasher board from behind.

EDIT: Replay at 1:34.

Etem with two assists in the 1st period, matching his assist total in 40 AHL games. Which begs the question how a forward prospect that got the ice time he did only had 2 assists in 40 games.

Erksine gets three games for the elbow on Simmonds.

NEW YORK -- Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine has been suspended for three games for elbowing Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds in NHL Game No. 101 in Washington on Friday, February 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Erskine will forfeit $24,324.33. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Kane scores early third to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in Calgary. Hes been involved in the first Hawks goal eight of nine games. Just as I typed that - Flames tied it up on a goal by former Sabre/Bruin Wideman at 13:23.

Sabres Record Watch - looking good for the 10 game in a row to start season one - Sharks losing to Predators 1-0 in the 3rd.

Ugh - Boumeester scores via a odd man rush off a turnover - 34 seconds left - Flames lead 2-1!
YES!! Hossa ties it up at 2 with 2 seconds left! We head to overtime - third Hawks game in a row!

Hawks and Emery survive a late Flames PP and tons of shots at the end -
we head to a shootout - third one in a row for Hawks. Emery 45 saves.

Shootout - Tanguay - NG - Toews - NG - Hudler - NG - Kane - G - Cervenka NG -
Hawks win! Hawks win! Emery and the Hawks steal two points.

Crud - Sharks tie it up - 1-1 late 3rd. We head to OT - Preds with a PP - Sharks kill the PP -
we head to a shootout. Whats that been - eight late night shootouts in the last three days? LOL!
Just like the Hawks - third straight shootout for the Sharks.

Shootout - Handzus - NG - Legwand - NG - Clowe NG - Smith - G - Pavlaski - NG -
Preds win! no 8-0 for the Sharks! Streak ends at 7!
One Sabres record isn't broken! Thank you Rinne and the Predators!

Love watching games in Edmonton, the lighting makes it feel like you're watching a pond hockey game at night with lights on it

Congrats to Milan Hejduk on playing his 1000th NHL game this evening and he celebrated it by scoring a goal - unfortunately his goal only put the Avs on the board and got them within one - Roy and the Stars lead 2-1 after the first period.

In the battle of teams who have beat the Sabres this season - at the FNC even - - Canes over the Leafs 4-1.

Oilers play so aggressively and with a lot of intensity, it's like the exact opposite of watching the Sabres.

Yep, I love their arena experience as far as watching it on a broadcast goes. Their fanbase is super-energized for obvious reasons and are a great crowd. The lighting is great as you say. Also think their broadcast team is pretty strong.

It looks like Kassian got removed from the Sedin line, I was expecting that to happen - I think the line as a whole only produced 5 goals even strength. Kassian hasn't been bad on the line though, the Sedins really haven't looked that great.

Yup, they've been pretty bad. Especially on the PP.

Looks like another thrilling finish to an Oilers game. Unfortunate for them as they'd turned it on the 2nd half of the 3rd but never cashed in and now the Canucks get the equalizer.

I wonder what the probability is of scoring on a penalty shot compared to a 4 on 3.
