Boyes got bumped up in the NYI lineup tonight... it's now Moulson-Tavares-Boyes.

Zac Rinaldo just destroyed someone. He was down and still punched him in the face near ice level. He could barely walk to the bench, definite concussion at the very least.

It was BJ Crombeen. I watched it on my TV. Rinaldo doesnt follow the code. Crombeen was already on the ground and Rinaldo just kept on punching. The Lightning were not happy and Marty St. Louis let the bench hear it.

I have to watch this because I can't imagine Rinaldo (he who was destroyed by Tropp) beating Crombeen. The cheap shots sound right, though.

Edit: Alright, I found it. He does land a haymaker that puts Crombeen down before landing two more UFC style ground and pound ones. Color me surprised (at the haymaker, not the dirty stuff).

Saw it in another thread, but can probably be put here, as well. Devils acquire Loktionov for a 5th. I guess Darcy couldn't bear the thought of not having a 4th and 5th.

Why buy low on a talented player? Guess he didn't want to disrupt team chemistry.

If true (and it's Eklund, so probably not)...I imagine there are cap implications and the Isles are getting something to take the contract.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it just because it's Eklund. As awful as he often is, I doubt he'd sever his limited credibility by proclaiming something as 100% true unless it actually was.

Reports are saying it's a cap move since they have to be to the floor by tomorrow.

Nice little circumvention of the cap if you ask me.

They're giving up no assets to gain a big cap hit, whom they have to pay no actual money to.

Yep, it's just the Isles finding new ways to be cheap.

ELC bonuses no longer count against the cap, so they had to do this instead of rushing their kids into the league and ruining them.

So Boston clears cap space for free to make a deal at the deadline, and NYI makes sure they stay above the floor in case they move someone? Unreal

We should be pissed. The Bruins just freed up 5 million in cap space, and could potentially get a high 2nd rounder.

And the team that got him? Just doing it because they are cheap and can cut a few more players and still be above the floor without spending any actual money.

Unreal how lopsided this league can be some times. It can be quite discouraging.

Yeah, they now have 7M to spend at the deadline if they want a rental player or two.

Wait, so if Thomas reports next year NYI still has to give up a 2nd rounder? I thought he was a UFA. So confused.

Buffalo's not making the playoffs anyway, so I'm not really concerned with who Boston rents with their newfound cap space.
