The Stars broadcast team were raving about his faceoff prowess on the night. I think he won his first seven or so draws and finished around 70% at the dot. His assist was as secondary as they come though, as Jagr did the bulk of the work retrieving Roy's shot in the corner and then no-looked it on over to Eriksson.

Watched some of most of the games....Toronto and Montreal both look aweful, Boston is playing dirty (as usual), and St Louis looks like there never was a lockout. If they keep it up, they will have no problem winning the west. Just wow.

Now with this; even though it's one game... Do they look to move Luongo so quickly?

That it is, nobody wants to give Gillis market value for Loungo because of that contract.

So, my initial impressions from the opening night, after seeing the DET-STL game and the highlights from the rest:
- old guys still bringing it (Jagr, Selanne, Kovalev...)
- Tarasenko, Huberdau and Granlund look to be fully ready
- Detroit looked completely lost without Lidstrom
- the Blues look ready to contend... but unlike last year, they should be ready for it this time around
I can't wait for tomorrow's game, wooo!

The fact that its a penalty to use your hand off the face-off to move the puck is just stupid. Blow it dead? sure, absolutely. Call it a penalty? Thats just retarded

Anyone else kind of excited for Edmonton/Vancouver later on? So many talented kids in that Edmonton lineup, and plus all of the Luongo/Schneider drama should make for a potentially entertaining game. Love the CI preview.

Edmontons speed in their top 6 should be fun to watch. They might be my team to root for in the west.

Pens look really, really good. No surprise, but they have to be the early favorites.

The Pens look like they've had a never-ending powerplay against the Rags.

A healthy Crosby and Malkin always makes them the favorites IMO.

Not anymore!
It's time for Yakupov, Schultz and the rest of the young Edmonton squad. I hope the Nucks tear them a new one tonight.

I hope Kassian gets a point or two so that the population of Vancouver isn't cut in half tonight.
