Yes, I agree, I thought of this as well and why not just name teams.

I thought football season was over? Flyers defeated the Islanders by a touchdown/extra point - 7-0 - Giroux and Briere - 2 goals, 1 assists, Read - 1 goal, 2 assists - Voracek - 4 assists and Bryzgalov - shutout. (Thankfully, I'm only facing Read in fantasy this week and one of my fantasy teams - one not facing Read - thanks Danny Boy for his 2 goals and 1 assist.)

$$$$$$$$$$$$

Players who get named will use it to try and get raises.

So the Leafs get a new coach and actually look like a decent defensive team now..maybe Darcy should take note.

Cam Ward just pulled a Vesa Toskala...allowed a goal from center ice because he couldn't handle the bounce of the puck. Easiest goal Pacioretty will ever have.

So..are we like..the only bad team in the Northeast division? I mean, we can't possibly finish behind an Ottawa team missing Spezza and Karlsson for the season along with Michalek and Cowen missing time as well?

Northeast Division Dominence

I realize that there's still a lot of hockey to be played, but it's worth mentioning how this division is kicking butt in the East so far this season.

If you take the dreaded division-leader seed out of the top 3, the NE division takes spots 3, 4, 5 & 6.

Is this just an early-season fluke, or will it sustain?

It's amazing what coaching can do to a team...

I don't think it's a fluke. The Bruins were the clear favorites and legit contenders coming into the season and the rest of the teams looked pretty solid, with Montreal looking to be in the worst shape. The Sabres, Leafs, and Sens all looked like they could be playoff teams and right now two of those teams are playing to the higher end of their expectations; Buffalo's playing to the low end.

The Canadiens are, at least where I was concerned, playing above their expectations. Markov being back is a game changer and several young guys have stepped in and stepped up, so I'm not too surprised there.

I think the play from these teams is sustainable individually, but common sense dictates that at least one of them is going to slip a lot. It's hard to imagine the Sens riding high for the whole season with both Spezza AND Karlsson gone. Losing Karlsson is like the Canadiens not having Markov, but even worse.

As a side note, you misspelled dominance and I only point that out in case you want to edit it, because people like to be ****** about spelling on the internet and someone's sure to be one here.

And to think...they have basically the same players as last year to...Pretty hilarious eh? Shows you the NHL is completely random and coaching makes a HUGE difference. There is just so much parity in the league, anything can happen at any moment...

I always thought the Habs placing last in the conference last season was a fluke. They are legit IMO, getting Markov back is huge for them.

The Leafs are playing really well, they could fall off like they did last season or maybe not - the shortened season may work in their favor

The Sens are the team most likely to fall out of the playoff picture, they've lost too many important pieces to injury. One thing though, I think they've got a really good coach.

If the Sens can finish ahead of us with their current roster, then that is just embarrassing for Lindy honestly. Absolutely no excuse for us to be worse than the Sens other than coaching

Agree. They had a better goal differential last year than a few teams that made the playoffs (and every other team that missed). They just didn't get the bounces at the right times or something.

Yeah, I find it quite remarkable how well teams that were drafting 3rd overall and 5th overall are doing so well. If you look at each teams respective roster it does not look much better than ours. The Leafs have had back to back shut outs. I think the team is just buying into a defensive minded system. Ottawa just beat the Eastern Conference leading Devils without there 2 best players. There is just so much parity in the league anything can happen on any given season. Simply looking at rosters "on paper" does not mean anything. That is why they play the games.

Canucks vs Hawks tonight in Chicago....should be great. I expect Zack to fight someone now that he is back getting bottom six minutes.

Yea I'd like to watch that but it's not in the cards in Buffalo. I don't have GameCenter or center ice.

Sharks n Blues game is a good little hockey game.

I don't even know who half these guys are in the Senators' lineup. And they're still beating the Isles 3-1. NYI has outscored 10-1 in its last two games. How embarrassing it will be when they beat us at FNC on Saturday night.

Ottawa is outplaying the Sabres without Karlsson, Spezza, Michalek and Cowen.
