Drive up his value even further for next years deadline (assuming its past Feb 28th)?

I think his value goes down.... unless he has a monster year between now and next trade deadline.....even if he duplicates what he did last year i think his value is hurt.

They asked Ted Black this morning on WGR (I think it was, this week at least) if the team has considered offer sheets. He said yes but the argument against presenting offer sheets is that the other team always matches.

Tampa's 2-9-1 in their last 12 games now. Next game? At Boston.

Their ship is taking on water fast.

OReilly wouldn't have signed an offer sheet for a contract with a value of just a second round compensation.

Anyone think this means Stastny will be on the trade block now for the Avs (or at the end of the year)? I don't know their payroll well but thought I heard somewhere they had some finance/payroll concerns. Sorry if this is out of whack - don't have the same day to day knowledge some of the guys on the board do.

..and the Flames might have lost RoR AND the picks, at least according to this sportsnet.ca article. Interesting.

That would have been great; especially if we were still last and had a shot at claiming him off waivers!

Wow. Sherman is a real idiot...should've taken the picks. No way O'Reilly clears waivers...now he's gonna lose him for free.

That win last night against Florida really sucks now because of our waiver position. Though if Columbus is smart they'll pluck him up immediately making it a moot point.

No, the waivers would've applied to Calgary or any other team, per that article. Not with the Avs.

However, Daly is asserting Calgary would not have had to put him through waivers. Very interesting to see if this develops further.

I'm no expert but there's got to be a difference somewhere in there between RFAs and UFAs. Those other guys that went through waivers were all UFAs, IIRC.

Ahh...didn't see hat part. I guess there's technicalities in play that protect the Avalanche is this case.

Would Columbus have passed on ROR, purely from for financial considerations?

I don't think Washington would have, right?

May be a moot point considering the deputy commissioner is saying he would not have been subject to the waivers process.

Seems like a really bad process if he would've been.

People were tweeting that's what Daly said. They misinterpreted his statement to, of all people, Eklund--Daly's statement was only pertaining to his waiver treatment if Colorado had signed him.

LOL, oh what could have been...

http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...lout-continues

In a nutshell, because O'Reilly played in the KHL after this season started, he was subject to waivers if a team other than Colorado signed him. Feaster was unaware, so if Colorado did not match the offer, O'Reilly would have been subject to being claimed by one of Columbus, Washington, Buffalo, or Florida depending on who had the worst record. If Buffalo hadn't messed up and won a game or two, they could have had the worst record and claimed O'Reilly.

Who's to say Columbus, Florida, and/or Washington would've put in a claim, though?

Hawks 18-0-3. I think Hawks will finish with more wins than we do points this year.

What's crazy is the Hawk's have yet to lose in regulation, and we've pretty much already thrown in the towel on our season

Ok whose planning on just sitting on their couch, sitting in their undies and opening up some cold ones this weekend? Hockeymania for the people who just get whatever games are on their TV - not including Center Ice etc.

Saturday - 12:00 pm ET - Ottawa at Philadelphia - NHL Network-US. 3:00 pm ET - Washington at Winnipeg - CBC or NHL Network-US. 3:00 pm ET - New Jersey at Buffalo - 3:00 pm ET - MSG. 7:00 pm ET - Pittsburgh at Montreal - CBC or NHL Network-US. 7:30 pm ET - AHL Hockey - Rochester at Syracuse - Time Warner Cable Sports Channels in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas. 10:00 pm ET - Los Angeles at Vancouver - CBC or NHL Network-US.

Sunday - 12:30 pm ET - Chicago at Detroit - NBC. 3:00 pm ET - St. Louis at Dallas - NHL Network-United States. 4:00 pm ET - AHL Hockey - Rochester at Lake Erie - Time Warner Cable Sports Channels in Buffalo and Rochester areas. 7:30 pm ET - Buffalo at New York - MSG and Montreal at Boston - NBCSN.

Whew! If it wasn't for me attending the Devils-Sabres game and then having to do a soccer coaching gig later this evening, I would be sitting back and watching this Hockeymania all this weekend. (Yeah for me, no plans for Sunday!)
