No excuses by Cooke. He knows he ****ed up big time. Some notibles:

- Despres's pass was ****ing amazing. That goal doesn't happen without that tremendous bank pass.

- Vitale is a 4th line GOD. Seriously..he changes momentum for this team. I sort of even like him and TK out there together being pests. It was fun.

- Sid's line still not finding "it" but they made 1 or 2 plays. That's more than they made in the Philly game.

- Pay attention to Sutter in our d-zone. It's almost too good to be true. His main focus is getting the puck to safety. He puts more effort into the d-zone then some of our defenders do.

- The new faceoff rule is a ****ing joke.

Yea especially when you just shuffle a puck. I mean I can understand if a player grabs it out of the air and carries it....but that call was stupid.

I know Despres has to take his bumps sooner or later but he looks bad. Three bad turn overs in his own zone & a stupid penalty. He needs some time in the AHL.

Same. Seems like they were just looking for an excuse to call more penalties.

Nah, Sutter will pot one. I have a feeling we'll see more of Geno and esp. Sid on the PK. Sid and Dupuis will make it happen Cap'an.

i feel bad for dustin jeffrey. he doesnt seem like a natural 4th liner at all, whereas vitale could be one of the better 4th liners in the league in a year or two

An early 4th goal for us in the 2nd could kill this game early.

I don't know about that. The Kennedy deflection was pretty impressive. All he did there was tap in a rebound after Vitale made a great play along the boards and beat a defenseman to the net.

I definitely agree with you about Sutter in the d zone. He is really looking good there and will be money come playoff time.

Love Vitale's game. He's feisty like Talbot, but with more explosiveness.

Not impressed with Vokoun so far. Guy can't control his rebounds. Looks like 07 Fleury.

Kind of agitated with how nonchalant the Pens are being handling the puck in their own zone on a turnover. Holding onto it a little long, making dangerous passes towards the crease.

Vitale has been one of our best players. He destroyed Marc Staal along the boards too.

Replay showed Schenn deflected it yesterday. Not TK. TK was awarded the goal.

There is nothing a single defender has done to make him sit next game. Unless it's to keep guys healthy... i don't see it.

People need to stop harping on Despres. This is like when people gave **** to Letang/Gogo in their first years for making mistakes.

Good stuff Cole.

Great to point out some good things that Despres is doing, as his mistakes definitely getting noted.

Yeah, Sutter makes the smart play all the time (so far) and makes it look easy. Very conscientious player.

Switched to the AFC Championship Game, and Tom Brady is a dirty player. Just tried to take out Ed Reed's knee by kicking him while sliding.

Impressive in the sense he never touched the puck yet got credit for the goal?

That won't do anything IMO. He needs NHL experience.

This idea that players get better in the A is a little overblown IMO. Maybe for some, but its not a rule that every player has to follow....playing at that level too long could hurt his development too.

It's really a masterful thing to watch. I was drooling over the same thing.

And a side note. If this feed switches to the ****ing Wild game, I'll be furious.

I'm doubtful, DB needs to give Despres some time. He's made a few really bad turnovers, but he needs to get through this. He has the confidence, which every poster should want, he just needs to finish getting his game together.
