Big ups to Callahan. I buy when the Rangers fans talk about him as a captain.

Someone needs to tell Malkin that on a 5-on-3 just wrist it or snap it in. You don't need to do a big windup slapper when there's only 3 Rangers out there. All that happens is you miss the net and the puck clears itself.

I would say they have a less aggressive forecheck. They are sitting back more when they know they won't get to the puck first instead of sending two players steaming forward. This is allowing for greater coverage on the back end and fewer odd man rushes going against us. Thats just what I see anyway.

Malkin looking way too casual on that 5 on 3.

Sutter COULD be so money in the playoffs. Can't believe he has never played a playoff game.

Will Jeffrey ever get in the lineup? Vitale just brings so much.

Anyone else lose their feed on NHLN? Switched to On The Fly?

EDIT: Still intermission. I thought they gave up on the blowout for another game... Too many Yuenglings today with all these games on.

To be quite honest, Staal hasn't looked as good as Sutter has devensively for a long time.

It is especially last year and the year before. Main difference is Sutter LOVES to play defense, he thrives on it. You can see it. Jordan's D game slipped because it seemed like he lost interest in it to a degree. It's a passion thing imo.

If Despres can get past these growing pains we are going to have a good defensive core. Nisky & Martin both play very well & Letang being Letang.

And damn, I wish we had Callahan. He's a beast.
Timing wasn't perfect, didn't get the puck on the tape, shanked it.

Shaking off that rust, will take a while.

To be fair Staal hasn't played that role that much in a long time either.

Good point, UM. Never thought of it that way with all the injuries of course.

Staal was not a good fit for a 3rd line center anymore. He was too talented offensively & was focusing less on defense. What happen was natural progression.

Agreed, that trade was just phenomenal though. Jim Rutherford did not need to make that trade.
