Feel sorry for leafs right now. another goal called back (this one was 50-50) tonight and now a weak penalty puts them down 2 men for 1.5min

i don't. i'm enjoying this. i just want them to go on a run later on so they don't finish too low in the standings. 9th would be perfect.

Slava Malamud is usually pretty close to Russian player news... so here's this:

Slava Malamud ‏@SlavaMalamud
Alex Radulov Scandal No. 173. Tensions in national team's camp, Radu's agent cries foul to media, says "he is being pushed back to NHL"

For the record, I want nothing to do with Radulov, but I thought it was an interesting tidbit.

Interesting, yes.

Demoted to the farm team January 9 "for disciplinary reasons" as well.

Old news perhaps, but I didn't know it until now.

It would take a heck of a lot of convincing on the part of his agent and himself to make anyone want to take a significant chance on him at this point. One of the highest paid hockey players on earth and nothing but trouble everywhere he goes. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit interested in bringing him in though.

I've always believed that Radulov would be a perfect fit with the Habs..

Do you know how bad you have to eff up to be a "persona-non-Grata" as a Russian playing in the KHL? The guy should be a national hero over there: Supremely skilled guy eschews the NHL to play at home. The KHL bends over backwards to accommodate star-caliber players who choose to leave the NHL in favor of Russia.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark the Central Federal District of Russia.

I've long been a fan of Radulov since his days in the Q but the guy is a raging narcissist. I'd entertain the idea of bringing him in but I have serious doubts this guy can function in a true team setting.

The way the Preds were so willing to just let him walk away sends up red flags everywhere. That's a team desperate for offensive talent and has a coach that has done wonders with a guy like Sergei Kostisyn. If he can't function there, I doubt he can function anywhere. Seems like the type of personality that can really fracture a dressing room. We've moved passed that in Ottawa.

Oh, I agree. It has to be a screw up of freakin epic proportions.

I'd be interested to know how his agent means to make him appealing to any NHL club after his experience in Nashville and now apparently doing his best to burn his bridges in Mother Russia. I'd (at the most) hear him out and ask around if only out of a morbid (and probably unhealthy) curiosity. Maybe he'll have something interesting to say or something irrefutable will turn up that frames all this negativity in a meaningful context. If not, well, at least you'll have a better understanding about why this guy is so **** up.

Tanev wins it in OT. Murray missed the boat there, throw him a life vest.

I think you keep Luongo. His contract is so awful that no team is going to give you fair value for a legitimate superstar. Schneider should be worth the top 6 forward they want. Go with the fan favourite.

I just think they're in a tough money situation with the cap dropping. Luongo's contract is pretty large to hold onto. They were lucky to sign Edler for something reasonable...but still.

Not gonna happen. Luongo gets traded soon. Schneider is clearly their choice for the future.

I would've taken a flier on Shouray. A +35 contract that he got might have been a little difficult to swallow, but he wouldve fit in nicely here. Hes playing damn good for the Ducks.

He got 3.6 over 3 years. I would've given him 4 for one year, but thats probably not enough since theres no security.

Their cap situation is brutal, though most of their good players have reasonable contracts.
Something will eventually happen there. They took advantage of a situation back when San Jose was going trough similar cap problems. Picked up Ehrhoff. Chicago and Atlanta/Winnipeg with Ladd and Buff. Now someone is probably going to fleece Vancouver in a cap dump trade. That Edler contract was really friendly. Hockey Karma.

I expect this to happen however, I don't agree with. Both sides are ready to move on but Luongo has the public on his side.
