I know one thing for sure, I am going to Finland sometime soon. Conan O'Brien got me thinking about it, but this thread now makes it a no brainer, hopefully the food doesn't suck

Traditional food sucks, ppl are afraid to use seasoning (except salt, lots of salt...), dishes are small (in better restaurants) and we do have couple international fast food franchises, like McDonald's and Subway and couple of our own.

The thing that'll shock you the most, is how expensive everything is...

It won't, if you stay away from the ABC truck stops... Google "Kyle Turris ABC" to find out why.

Welcome to the land of eenoks and VataNISTs, where genious mascots have hugging parties with kids! Don't forget your paper clothing.

I was wondering if Vatanists (= Vatanen worshippers / disciples who have converted to Vatanism) need to get organized.

I suggest a Vatanist register like this:

Vatanist #1 - eenok
Vatanist #2 - VataNIST

and so on. Let's spread the word!

First the Church of Yeo with the Wild fans, now Vatanism? Hockey is really like a religion!

Traditional food is nice (not all though).

Sauteed reindeer (poronkäristys), IMO the best dish in the planet. yummy!

North americans use too much dressing anyways...and we too much salt... that's why we like "salmiakki" salty liquorice like madmans... or salmiakki koskenkorva booze.

Yes ABC truck stop food ain't for primadonnas like Kyle Turris... you don't even get sexy sparkling drinks there like in NHL road trip restaurants.

Well, sauteed reindeer is yummy. Maybe I was bit too harsh with my judgement.

1. i'll bring the gift of tri-tip to finland for all to enjoy
2. second thing i do, is find finnish girls to have hugging party with
3. i don't eat reindeer out of fear santa will stop bringing me gifts, however if vatanen requires this i will do so

I bid you welcome as well, Sheen. I can warmly recommend Jyväskylä (we should change it to "Vatatown" or something like that). Your flight will land to Helsinki and Jyväskylä is 300 kilometres (roughly 200miles, if I'm not entirely wrong) to north. By train, it takes like 2-3hrs and costs like 50€ (and I have no idea how €/$ is right now and I'm lazy).

It takes a small effort to get to here but I bet you'll have hard time seeking Vatanists elsewhere. And we have very huggable girls, too

I can be your personal guide through Jyväskylä and show the mythical training grounds in which he acquired his magical talent. For a reasonable compensation of course.

Eenok is actually SaiPa fan not JYP...so this huge worship for Jyväskylä (Central Finland) wonderboy is little bit odd. SaiPa comes from town called Lappeenranta located in Eastern Finland. Maybe Eenok is now a student in Jyväskylä university and vatanists recruited him to their cult.

In order to be a real VataNIST one must come where the legend started, and of course I will bring a "Wild Wing" mascot setup for Eenok as a gift, for making me a believer so he can use it for the hugging parties

Always funny when you are expecting to see hockey talking and real talking about a player and the thread keeps being total BS day after day..

Mods at hfboards sucks (sorry), they give me weak calls (warnings) for things like little bit of falming in Finland - Sweden GDT, but this topic seems to have their protection!

I didn't know you receiving warnings had something to do with Sami Keerole. This is Vataboyboogie. It's a singalong. All together now.

I play on a private wow server so there are people from all over the world playing. There was a Finnish guild recruiting and I hit him up to talk about Sami Vatanen. Pretty funny how he immediately knew who i was talking about. Pretty enjoyable.

Haha! Warmly welcome! This is how it looks like in Jypinkylä (originally Jyväskylä but these rappers named it after Sami's ex-team, soon we have to change the name to Vataskylä). BTW, Anaheim is mentioned on this ice hockey related music video. Nevertheless, it might be hard for you to recognise as rapper's pronounciation is not on your local Anaheim dialect. Many of Sami's ex teammates act on the video.

And this is another ice hockey related rap music video from Jypinkylä (Jyväskylä), Sami's home city. AK Bars Kazan is mentioned often on these videos. That is because of Jarkko Immonen, who was our biggest star before Sami. AK Bars Kazan is his current team in KHL. If Sami gets a Keerole in Anaheim I am sure that Anaheim gets a Keerole on the next Jypinkylä music video.

Of course they don't, they go for d-men like Lilja I wonder if Teemu ever thanked Lilja for that turnover haha

@icemancometh: No sign of Cam Fowler on the ice. Not a surprise there considering how he looked Saturday night. Sami Vatanen skating in his spot.

I wouldn't be suprised if 3 mysterious Vatanists are swapping Fowler's pain medication for laxatives right now

Depending on how long Cam is out, this could be Vatanen's shot.
