If Dan Bylsma is fired by the Pens, the next thing that needs to happen is Sacco getting a call telling him hes being replaced. 'Wishful thinking'

IF Bylsma is fired, some other team will immediately fire their coach to get him. And the avs will take too long to fire sacco and end up with their man...quinn.

I set my hopes high because I don't know anyother way. I'm one of those people some might call dreamers.

And I'm still curious if anyone knows anything about Scott Gordon.

The new guys have accounted for nearly 60% of our goals this season.

Lose Sacco before he ruins them

Watch them bring in Bylsma and he keeps Granato as an assistant. Paving the way for Granato's 3rd term as Avs head coach in a few years.

I don't see Bylsma being fired by the Pens. Not this year at least.

I think the coach in the most danger right now is, of all people, Adam Oates. And if he gets canned I think you can be reasonably certain the guy who hired him will be gone as well.

Really, really concerned about this coaching staff the more games I watch. They're just such a sloppy, sloppy team, especially in the defensive zone. And the special teams...yeah. I know a big part of that is a lack of talent and injuries, but those excuses only go so far. This team from top to bottom seems completely disorganized.

Same story different year. Your post could be applied to any year Sacco has been behind the bench. Nothing has changed. Sloppiness is the hallmark of his tenure.

Avs' PP: 30th
Avs' PK: 18th

With stats like that he's probably in line for a contract extension.

Also, through nine games Hunwick leads the defense for TOI per game. Though he has only played six of the nine games. Certainly the definition of putting your team in the best chance of being successful.

I have absolutely zero faith that they will fire him before his term however. This organization for one reason or another has never valued quality and experienced coaching, and I also don't they're willing to pay him not to coach. I also have zero faith that they'll replace him with anyone other than Quinn when his time is up.

Avs are simply sticking to a trusted formula and need Hunwick and Sacco to succeed hehe

2008 = playoffs

2009 = 3rd overall pick

2010 = playoffs

2011 = 2nd overall pick

2012 = challenge for playoffs

2013 = 1st overall pick

Whatever happened to Roy looking for a HC job? I think that type of hardass just might be what this team needs right now. Sacco is way too soft for this team, we need someone with a voice.

What is Roy up to these days anyways?

Roy wanted a combined coach/GM job and tons of money around 7.5 million for 3 years and thats simply not the type of money Avs spend on staff. It is said he is waiting for a NHL team in Quebec City that might hire him as GM or coach.

So I had some time and was looking at Sacco's tenure here as Avs head coach. Take from these stats what you will.
2009-10
43-30-9 over 82 games
31-25-8 vs west
C- 12-5-3 P- 9-9-2 NW- 10-11-3
12-5-1 vs east

2010-11
30-44-8 over 82
22-39-3 vs west
C- 11-8-1 P- 4-15-1 NW- 7-16-1
8-5-5 vs east

2011-12
41-35-6 over 82
28-31-5 vs west
C- 9-9-2 P- 11-8-1 NW- 8-14-2
13-4-1 vs east

early this year but still
4-5
C- 1-0-0 P- 1-2-0 NW 2-3-0

over his career so far he is 118-114-23
Versus the west 85-100-16
C-33-22-6 P- 25-34-4 NW- 27-44-6
Versus the east 33-14-7

interpret those anyway you guys want.

Looks like McDavid is the player the Avs are really targeting. Can't say that I blame them, he looks like he could be a special player.

Dude would've won two cups if he had an Eastern Conference team. I guess the travel takes its toll on the coaching staff as much as it does the players.

Hunwick on the 1st pairing,
Juggling of horrid line combinations that make no sense,
Mark Olver still playing in the NHL for the AVs {we have way too many small players, even if he is "gritty"} and the overall treatment of his players. No wonder the Avs never perform up-to-par, he sukcs all the mojo from the team.

Ive really it had it with Sacco - even seeing him behind the bench on TV pisses me off. It's like a co-worker that gets a free ride while you bust your ass - that is how Sacco makes me feel every time i see him.

Were you expecting Olver to be lighting it up or something? Our most talented players are leading in points with Mitchell being a big surprise. Par for the course. If RoR was here we'd probably be two wins or so up, not that it would change anyone's opinion.

Does anyone else notice how our team seems to have the worse line changes perhaps in the history of hockey? atleast 3-4 times a game we get caught on terrible line changes. Terrible bench management by Sacco.

I'd argue that's due to the fact that this team is unable to play anything resembling a puck possession game, which forces them to make ill-timed desperation changes. I don't think that's just on the coach.

Also, I have no idea if there's a stat for icings per game, but I imagine the Avs are at or near the top of the list, which forces exhausted players to stay out for a defensive zone draw. It also doesn't help that Sacco has been forced to use Duchene/Stastny for nearly all defensive zone draws, where they then have to hustle off the ice (assuming they can get the puck out of the zone, which is another problem this team has) leaving them pretty tired as well.

On a side note, I seem to remember Quenneville getting caught with a bunch of too-many-men penalties during his tenure here.

Keep this bum until the season is over. Might as well finish as low as possible to help rebuild this turd of a team.
