It's just frustrating starting a guy like Potter that adds nearly nothing for value.

He is actually alright on the PP, but will never see PP time. The guy should simply never be out on a PK, far too soft.

So are we relying on him to be a good puck mover 5v5? We have Whitney, Petry, and Schultz to do that job.

If we wanted to have a soft RH guy we should have kept Gilbert, who when compared to Potter looks like Shea Weber.

Fistric brings an element that the Oilers don't have, has much more experience in the NHL, has more promise, and is younger.

Hopefully Potter is awful and Ralph sees it pretty quickly.

I would have matched Fistric against the Sedins all day every day. When they get hit and banged around, they are ineffective. If you give them any sort of space to roam around you're going to get burned

I just hope if Schneider plays, the oilers light him up.
after the last 8 or so months of Schneider being heralded as one of the best young goalies ever, I'd love to see him suck two games in a row.

I think Luongo is better than Schneider. I didn't want to face Lui. He is so big in there.

bummer. that's ok. maybe if we get lucky, the oilers will score lots on luongo and we'll still get to see Schneider play.

curioous how big the GDT will be here today. I went onto the vancouver board to enjoy the panic and their GDT was on part two and was over 1200 posts.

LOL They are starting Lu?? This goes against all logic. You have to give your starter the net again after what happened last night. What is going on in Van City? Go get 'em Oil!

I've waiting 288 days for this!

gotta think the Nucks are gonna be steaming mad after last night...howver, they're still not in game shape and a lot of them will be tired...

Oilers gotta push the pace and use those youthful legs...no predictions but gonna be a close game

GOilers!

They don't have PGTs.

He's our only physical defenseman. I think a pairing of Smid and Fistric would do wonders against the sedins.

So a #6/7 guy playing with someone he's never played with before and playing on his off-defensive position is the thing that will do wonders?

When is the last time you've seen the Sedins get hit by a big slow guy? They pass the puck around him so fast the guy will trip over himself.

I've (We've) been waiting a loooong time for this, way too long. The anticipation to see this talented team on the ice is higher than it's ever been for me personally.
This is going to be a long 7 hours to wait. Good thing that it's NFL Conference Championship Sunday to help bridge the gap to the Oilers game.
I really hope that this is the year that the Oilers finally shut up the idiot critics, it's time to get 'er done.

I'm a little nervous that the Canucks got their lunch handed to them last night, they are going to be breathing fire tonight especially with all the hype surrounding the Oilers added in so i hope that the boys are up for it, can't wait to find out.

Any updates on the lineups tonight? I haven't checked through the thread to find out.

Edit: I see that Potter is indeed playing. Oh well, it would have been nice to have Fistric in there but it's not the end of the world.
The one i don't get is Paajarvi riding the pine. This is a kid who needs to play every night, he should be in OKC playing on the top line. This is a fail by Oilers management/coaching IMO.

Just saying we don't have any sort of physical presence back there. Maybe Smid but that's about it. But hey I guess Potter can cast some spells on the Sedins. That should be more effective than having fistric in the lineup

fistric or potter it doesnt matter. if the oilers can, they should try to avoid that match up as best as possible

Vancouver has a #1 goaltender controversy and we have a #6 defenseman controversy

Not sure how he will look in the game but Potter actually looked pretty good in the practice I went to on Monday.

We don't have an overly physical defense so you play with what you got, you don't try to fit a square peg in a round hole.
