Best 3 Forwards/2 Defencemen/1 Goalie since 2000?

Looking strictly at players whose careers have started near or before the year 2000. So I am excluding Crosby, Ovechkin, Malkin, ect. strictly for that reason. Take into account every and only game played from 2000 and on.

Please select THREE forwards, TWO defenceman and ONE goalie.

I know everyone is going to pick Broduer and Lidstrom. The really interesting thing for me is seeing how the forwards go.

I easily voted Thornton and Kovalchuk, wasn't sure for the last but picked Datsyuk.

But the D were very easily Lidstrom and Pronger, and easily voted Brodeur

Datsyuk didn't really become the player he is now until after the lockout. Before that time, Kovalchuk had seasons of 29, 38 and 41 goals.

Maybe I am biased but I think Scott Niedermayer deserves a little more credit. Sure Pronger won the Hart (Which he only won because he was Canadian and Jagr is eastern European but that's for another time and Pronger was still amazing that year) but Niedermayer beat him out for the Smythe on the same tame, was Canadian Captain over Pronger, won a Norris at the peak of Lidstrom's prime, and won 3 cups that decade. He also deserves credit for being one of the best captain in recent history meanwhile Pronger played on 4 different teams this decade. For a player of that quality to be traded around so much, it must have been in part an attitude problem.

I can understand people choosing Pronger over Niedermayer, but not by such a majority.

Pronger was easily better than Niedermayer.

Im not even sure Niedermayer is better than Chara. Niedermayer's Smythe is controversial and you make it sound like he was significantly better than Pronger in the Ducks Cup win. Pronger was the best player on the Oilers and Flyers teams that went to the finals. Niedermayer's 1 Norris win came when Lidstrom had a flukey down year offensively.

Selanne had some of his worst seasons from 2000-2004 due to injury. He shouldnt even be considered. His prime is before 2000.

Surprised that Zetterberg is not listed given many of the other inclusions.

Especially Datsyuk, given that Zetterberg and Datsyuk are very close in scoring and many Wings fans believe that Zetterberg rightfully deserves at least one if not more of the Selkes that went to Datsyuk. The local papers even spoke of Zetterberg in 2008 in a tone as if they expected him to win; Datsyuk winning over Zetterberg was a complete shock to the city that had watched the team all year, with the two playing together on a line for much of it.

You don't understand how polls work. Ever voter could think Pronger just barely edges out Niedermayer and Niedermayer would still have zero votes.
