Mike Commodore signs PTO with Hamilton (UPD: Released Jan 22)

According to theahl.com site

http://theahl.com/stats/transactions...&f_team_id=326

It's a PTO (25 games tryout)

A great day for hockey!

I'm guessing the Pateryn injury is long-term

Pateryn is out 2-3 months.

As long as he's not taking ice time away from Tinordi-Beaulieu-Ellis, meh, whatever.

Nice, this should help Hamilton's rookie defense. Commodore might not be good enough for the NHL anymore (or at least, barely) but he's still a seasoned veteran.

I still remember when he got traded for a 7th conditional draft pick last season how much lower could a players stock be...future considerations I guess?

Good signing though, it'll help the kids.

Like it, need some vets with such a young team, specially a young D.

Also helps St Denis or Corbin by maybe having them move back to their natural LD, since Commodore plays RD

The 7th round pick was on the condition that the Lighting make the playoffs, which was almost impossible, so it was LOWWW value

Good move for the dogs. Need some veteren presence there outside of St.Denis.

Good move, hopefully it'll bring some stability on the blue line.

I was hoping we'd see a move like this soon. With geoffrion out indefinitely, I hope to see a Vet signed on offense as well.

Nice to hear, they sorely need another vet back there imo. Nice to get a solid stay at home type.

Really good news. Hamilton needs some veteran presence and stability on the back end. Great signing.

I was surprised when they did not offer a contract to Michel Ouellet mainly because of the vet factor: the AHL sure is a development league but I want our young guns to grow in a winning environment. And winning is tough without solid vets to show the way.

=> A solid and necessary move imo. I still dislike our NHL d squad but, with Commodore onboard, our AHL d squad seems to be well balanced.

Good, they needed a veteran on defense. Now, they can add one on offense.

Perfect defence partner for Beaulieu IMO, kind of similar role of what Gill was to Subban in the NHL.

As an aside, it's good to see that Marc Bergevin fixes his mistakes. He erred in not signing a veteran D, ok, **** happens. But he is fixing it 15 games into the season, that is some good responsiveness.

He was released due to a lack of performance not because of the vet rule. Teams can dress up to 5 veterans (320+ pro games) in a game and Hamilton only had 2 (Blunden and Stortini) at that time. Even with Boyce and Commodore they still have room for another veteran player.

Hopefully he can be useful and not just Stortini on D.

Well considering he only managed to get a contract in the DEL, i doubt he would cut it here. Was a fan when he was here, but he was just too damn slow.

1 point, -8 in 20 games in germany. yeesh. Not exactly tearing it up.

I'm not sure. I guess he wanted a change from the AHL to the odd (very odd) callup to the NHL... For some reason.

Never was a point guy, but figured he'd be more useful.
