3C to NYR for futures

Seeing as we can't spare roster players, do any of our prospects interest you?

Ryan O'Reilly would be very nice, any word on his contract negotiations?

A 3rd pairing RD would be nice too.

O'Reilly is not a 3C. He's more of a 2C, arguably more depending on who you ask.

Isn't Boyle the 3C?

I know it's a bit far fetched, but what do you think the possibilities of the Rangers acquiring a player on a big contract like Horcoff and buying him out at seasons end. They have the cap space for it now. I guess they'd only do it if a team like Edmonton really sweetened the pot.

Boyle is more like a better 4C.

Edmonton would need to keep at least half of Horcoff's salary for him to be a possibility.

You wouldn't get Oreilly without giving a roster player in return.

M Staal/McDonagh or the Avs have no interest.

O'Reilly is a 3C in Colorado. He'd be a second liner on most teams.

ROR is just one of many possible targets. I wouldn't put him above Stepan though.

Sutter, Stoll, Laich, Brodziak, guys like them would be good. Brodziak is probably out o the question though.

For futures only I figure all of those guys are out of the question.

I don't think you are going to get any decent third line center for futures. Gotta give to get.

It would theoretically have to be an aging one from from a rebuilding/retooling team. The ones he named are all on teams not currently selling off though and Sutter`s a virtual baby on a division rival too.

Since NY has had success with former Hab D prospects so if you're looking for a young right hanbed puck moving D with a good shot and an inexpensive contract Weber could be the solution

And no we won't take Richards, we learned our lesson with Gomez LOL

O'Reilly is certainly better than Stepan...lol. His career high is 55 points compared to Stepan' 51, and O'Reilly is a beast defensively.

And you won't be getting guys like that while only offering futures, sorry. Teams are not looking to trade very good 3rd line centers for picks and prospects.

Belanger + Potter is what you need

Benn + Subban is what you want

You aren't getting O'Reilly for futures lol, that doesn't even seem like close to a serious offer.

In fact, you aren't going to get any sort of respectable 3C for futures.

Avs fans, I'd like to apologize on behalf of all Ranger posters, I don't think he knows ROR that well.

ROR is a great young two way player and won't be had for anything less but a ridiculous overpayment. I'd even venture to say that he's their best center.

NYR can't use its only remaining buyout on Horcoff.
That would leave no options, we would be forced to keep Richards if we couldn't trade him and that would kill us down the road.

Assuming Richards would waive his NMC, a huge if, if you gave up something really good for Richards, allowing us to repurpose his salary, we could consider --- depending on what we got to make it worth our while --- we could think about horcoff coming here, then using our last buyout on him. But that is expensive, and it's really gotta be worth my while.

Rangers are not buying out Richards. So you can forget the notion.

If Anaheim falls out, Saku Koivu would make some sense, he has looked great in the no.3 center role so far, he seems re-invigorated
