"numbers"?

The question is whether Jaskin starts at forward over Russell or not. If not, then expect the same line-up as last game.

McDonald is apparently 50/50 to play. If he misses out, you have to think that you play Jaškin despite only joining up today. It would be weird to keep Russell in ahead of him.

I think Russell will play over Jaskin again against Nashville if McDonald doesn't suit up. He's not going to play in a game the same day he first has a morning skate with the team.

Hitchcock has already stated as much. And, from the way he said it, I'm guessing that Jaskin also won't play Thursday. I think his first game possible is 3 games from now (depending upon McDonald's and Oshie's availability.

Phoenix and Edmonton both lose in regulation. Barring a collapse by Detroit or winning out by Dallas or Phoenix (both deadline sellers), the top 8 are the eight playoff teams.

West Standings

1. CHI +24
2. ANA +19
3. VAN +11
4. SJ +9, 38gp
5. LA +9, 39gp
6. MIN +8
7. STL +7
8. DET +4
9. DAL +1, 38gp
10. PHX +1, 39gp
11. EDM 0, 14row
12. CBJ 0, 12row
13. NSH -2
14. CGY -6
15. COL -10

Bad times in Colorado, man. Bad times. Giguere blew up in the locker room after the game.

“Some guys are more worried about their Vegas trip at the end of the season than playing the games, than playing every minute of the games. Quite frankly, I don’t care about your Vegas trip right now.”

I don't think that's as bad as "It's embarrassing. I'm embarrassed to be here right now." That's rough.

Blues get to play them twice in the final 11 games. That's good.

Whoa, tough stuff but hard not to like this guy

After years of playing in the best league of the world and winning pretty much everything and having hugh private troubles he still has a winners attitude

Now I'm just curious who these team-cancers are, especially if EJ or ROR are involved.

Yeah should be an easy win, just like the one game against Edmonton where we completely dominated and... wait, I mean that one game against Calgary where we... crap...

I think it's become a recurring theme where we lose to teams we should beat easily. I'm not going to get my hopes up that easily!

I remember a lot of people though the Avs and Blues, 2 "young and highly talented" teams, would be toe-to-toe this season, so I think we should learn from their lesson:

1)you need veteranship. It's easy to replace Amac with Jaskin and Nichol with Porter on the ice, in the trainings and in the locker room? Not so much

It's also easy to hand out Petro the C after beeing great for 1 or 2 years, but not the right way to lead a young squad IMO

2)you need the right vets. More Gigueres, less O'Briens

The Avs have a couple problems:
1) They have a lousy coach. They're on-ice strategy leaves me scratching my head sometimes.

2) The front office seems schizophrenic. Even though we're all big partisans here, the EJ trade was a bad one for them. The O'Reilly situation was bizarre. But most of all, they can't seem to decide if they're rebuilding, shaping, or contending. They should be even with or even a step ahead of the Blues' rebuild. The reason Stastny got in trouble was for his Dad pointing out how senseless some of their personnel movements have been.

Well, they've traded off enough young talent to push them back out of the 'contending' realm back into the high lottery. They should have been sellers at the deadline...but strangely made no significant moves. A couple years ago, they had a chance to build a better defense and be a legit contender....but they made EJ the cornerstone of that move and then got gun-shy. I just see little sense of a team vision. (Edmonton gives off the vibe, too. They're not really sure what they want their team to look like...just lots of young offensive stars.)

Colorado has squandered Stastny's prime years. I'm bet wherever he goes, he'll have a resurgence.

Some other playoff-chase important games tonight. All three teams directly ahead of the Blues are in action, and if everything goes right the Blues will have the 4th best percentage after tonight (Blues win, the rest lose in regulation).

Sharks at Jackets (Jackets draw first blood early)
Hawks at Wild
Kings at Stars

He really hasn't been good all season. I even dropped him in fantasy league because he was consistently putting up bad numbers. I know St. Louis has struggled against them a lot recently but I really am starting to believe St. Louis can beat them.

We're one Ottawa regulation loss away (on its game in hand) from the standings projecting opening round series of MTL-TOR, BOS-NYR, CHI-DET.

Looks like Giguere woke the Avs up. 3-0 lead in Anaheim halfway through.

Nope, the Avs are too ****** to ever come through. Laughable how bad they are.

Whatever though, Blues can jump into 4th with a win vs. Columbus.
