I think Ryan Lambert just wrote one of the dumbest articles I've ever seen. Apparently because Toews scored one meaningless goal these playoffs, he's proven again that he's a "Legendary Leader." Give me a break.

He also said this about the Cracknell signing:

Quote:
The Blues re-signed Adam Cracknell for some reason. This is in the running for least-notable contract of the summer.

I haven't read one in forever, I do look at what he says for the Blues because I always get a laugh out of it.

His schtick gets old quickly and after you've read one of his articles, it's like you've read them all. I usually appreciate his mocking of the Red Wings, though.

It's no big deal, I'm sure there are a ton of articles that have been written that do say that his one goal shows he's "coming on at the right time".

Joe Thornton's ability to setup his teamates for scoring chances is unreal. Every single pass is right on the tape. Hes probably my favorite player in the league to watch. Alot of Thronton's production comes from behind the net. Hes strong on the puck and he buys time with his size for his teamates to get open and crash the net. One thing I've noticed about the Blues is their inability to utilize the space behind the net in their offense, especially on the powerplay. If you look around the league at the big point producers, alot of their production comes from that area (Crosby,Sedin's,Thronton, ect.) On the powerplay the blues relied too much on the point shot. I would like to see them setup something up behind the net from time to time and get centering chances in front to our power forwards. I think the Blues should sit Berglund down in a room and make him watch Kopitar and Thronton videos all summer. I'm hopeful he can develop into a poor man's version of that type of player. He shows glimpses of being able to use his body to domintate puck possesion but he needs to learn to do it while keeping his head up to find open teamates. Everytime he uses his body to control possesion he's looking down at the puck. If he can find that rare ability to use his size and see/sense open teamates he could be dangerous. He's still very young and has shown the ablity to score goals, just needs to find ways to create for his teamates to become a very good 2nd maybe 1st C.
(Just a little rant after salivating over Thronton's ability to create chances)

The Sharks really need to rebuild this offseason. Their time as a Stanley Cup contender is officially done. Thornton, Marleau, Havlat and Boyle need to be dealt. These guys are getting old, and even though the Sharks forced 7 games vs LA, you can tell just by watching them that they aren't even close to being the team they were in 2011. They are just nowhere near as dangerous offensively.

If they can get some decent picks/prospects out of those guys, they could be a contender again soon if they can get some nice players to build around Couture, Pavelski, Burns, Vlasic, etc.

There are probably no two teams that the Blues mirror more than the Bruins and the Kings so it will be interesting to watch two excellently structured defensive teams against the high powered offenses of Pittsburgh and Chicago.

If the Kings proved that the Blues are just a step below the Conference Finalists that play most similarly to the way we do than I think the results of these two series might tell us how close the Blues are to the other two powers that play differently. I really wanted to see LA play Chicago for that reason.

Two series with awesome contrasts in styles and I think they will produce some unreal hockey.

Do you guys think the Blues will become the Hawk's biggest divisional rivalry?

Yes I don't see who else would. I think the Hawks are our biggest rival right now and have been for a while.

The rivalry against Detroit was mainly based on the past and it hasn't felt like a real hate-filled rivalry for years now. So I don't care about losing them.

Yes.

Its been a while since both teams have been competetive at the same time, so the rivalry faded a bit.

With Detroit moving east, it seems natural that the Blues-Blackhawks rivarly will be renewed.

I agree completely. I'm really excited to watch these conference finals matchups.

They already are, its just lost a bit of luster over the past decade or so. That will change now that both teams are contenders.

Have you been to a Blues/Blackhawks game in the past couple seasons? They're intense on the ice, and a blast in the stands.

Ugh. Can't believe I'm saying this, but this is an easy decision for me: Go Blackhawks.

I just cannot stand seeing this Kings team getting bailed out by Jonathan Quick any longer. Makes me sick. I want these idiots eliminated.

Bruins are my team this year.

Can't possibly root for the Hawks for the sake of our rivalry.

I really don't like a lot of players on the Kings.

Then there is the Penguins, a team with two players I really dislike...Crosby and the Flower.

This echoes my own feelings. I want both of the Western teams to lose. Whoever comes out of the East is the team I'll root for (preferably Boston). I don't really love any of the teams left. I'd rather be rooting for someone who hasn't won a Cup lately. I could have gotten behind San Jose, and normally I'm not a big fan of them.

Pittsburgh is the only team left that I can stand and Boston is the lesser of the 3 evils. I'll be fine with the winner as long as it's not Chicago.
