To be fair they lost on a fluke play, and dropped INT in 2007.

But in the big picture I do agree with you.

The problem isn't the offense at all. The offense is a juggernaut year after year. The defense cannot apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks in games where the offense doesn't first spot them a 3 possession lead. You look at the teams they lose to year after year, and they're all balanced teams with a good enough defense to keep the Patriot offense in check and an offense which can both run the ball and convert some third and medium passing plays.

Your point about the defense is absolutely true. And it's why they need to address it, especially the secondary, yet again.

But yeah the offense puts up points, but has a tendency to struggle against good teams, or good physical defenses. It's happened time and time again.

They have essentially evolved into those 2003-04 Colts teams.

This Welker saga is pretty good drama. Apparently Welker has a contract offer from Denver, and he's gone back to the Patriots to see if they'll match.

You know they won't. This is just like Vinateri leaving.

Wes has done everything they've asked. And they've been low balling him for the past couple of years. Pay the man, make Brady happy.

But do not spew to me the crap ive been reading that Danny Amendola is better than Welker.

So you're comfortable letting Wes eat up 8-10/mil a year on the cap? He's a slot guy. A damn great one, but he's still a slot guy who Brady relies on too much.

Doesn't matter, Wes has agreed to a contract with Denver.

Let the choker join another choker. Sign someone who can actually catch. Get Jennings. Before the Patriots who was Welker? Seriously **** him.

**** you Welker. Like someone else said, who was Welker before he was a Pat?

If Edelman can stay healthy, I think he can fill the slot fine. Sign a different WR, sucks that Boldin and Harvin both got traded though.

Yes. I am. The guy deserves the money. The Pats play this game with everyone. Now we'll be stuck with the Reche Caldwells of the world. This is a bad move. And this organization is blowing it.

Brady must be pissed.

Oh please, stop being ignorant. The guy is a free agent, the Broncos offered him a contract. The Patriots clearly didn't want him. So because he was a Pat he shouldn't go play with Peyton?

Give me a break.

2 years, $12 million.

No wonder he walked if NE didn't match that.

Walker needs Brady a hell of a lot more than Brady needs Welker. If we don't sign a WR, at least spend a bunch of cash on upgrading the D. Re-sign Talib and Volmer, either sign or draft a big physical WR that can jump for the ball. Sign the best possible pass rusher you can, we're gonna need one.

Now he gets to drop passes from the most overrated QB in NFL history.
Good riddance.

I wouldn't take this out on Welker. To be fair, the Patriots sort of treated him like ****.

I know I've been beating the drum in terms of value against Welker, but 2 years/12 million? Now they've blown it. That's a joke.
