this team will be fine. we have some new faces and we lost a couple key guys who logged alot of minutes. once we get rollin, i think we go on an extended tear of wins.

our top 6 is still pretty scary and with hank in net, we have a legit chance every night.

and while im not a fan of rupper, boyle and pyatt will have a nice season if we can add some wheels to that line.

dump bickel. play eminger with del zotto and roll the other 4 guys regularly and d wise were ok.

if we can get past this no training camp sluggishness, build some mojo, and fix the pp, i like this team. alot.

While this is a positive thread I do find the need to mention the pathetic manipulation by Giannone. The Rangers started 0-1-2 and finished 31-12-5. So either say that or say 0-3 and 31-17. Don't add the OT losses to regular losses to show how poorly we started and then not add it show how great we finished. Lost some respect for this spin doctor.

I'm not sure he'll ever live it down. How dare he mislead the people like that. He'll be expected to resign, surely.

It's just an obvious manipulation. Also as you sarcastically said it was misleading. I don't like people pulling stunts like that. Very transparent. I don't care that it's not a huge deal. I don't like misleading crap like that.

How wonderful would a convincing win over Boston be on Wednesday? Wishful thinking but i'd like a win by at least 4 goals.

Are these the same kind of people who think if they wear socks that haven't been washed in 8 years that the Rangers will somehow win because they wore those socks? Or if they hold their poop in until the Rangers score then the Rangers will win? (I know someone who does this) Or that anything they say or do in their home will somehow "jinx" or affect the Rangers chances of winning that night?

I NEED TO TRY THIS ONE. The socks stopped working game 6 of the ECF last year

Philly got off to a terrible start in 1995. Bob Clarke traded Mark Recchi to MTL for Eric Desjardins and John LeClaie. Gilbert Dionne was also in that deal. The main player was supposed to be Desjardins but it ended up being LeClair. Legion on Doom was formed. I remember they rolled the Rangers at the Garden in 95. That line came out and put up 3 goals in the first 10 minutes. Rangers battled back 3-3. LeClair ripped the GWG past Richter. It have been Healey. Philly went on to have a great year after having a bad start.

The 1995 Rangers got off to a slow start and Smith had to trade a #1 pick to Hartford for Pat Verbeek. Smith had traded Gartner and Amonte at the previous trading deadline and never replaced their goal scoring. Graves was coming off back surgery. Messier was coming off a holdout. Smith made that trade after the Devils stomped on the Rangers at the Garden. Smith had no choice. The team couldn't score goals. That shouldn't be a problem with this team.

... wasnt this supposed to be the positive thread

First pages didn't indicate it really. I'll better leave ... no positives as far as I am concerned ... except for the obvious Rick Nash

Some of the stuff Smith had to do to his team to acquire Keenan's favorite players was really a shame. Gartner should have his Cup he played 19 years for and never got.

Here's some positives: we were lazy on defense. Philly just has a bad defense.

I'm not even gonna talk about the oilers

Unfortunately, our success depends very little on both of those teams.

Nash reminds me a lot of a young Jagr. He has those tree trunk legs that make it hard to knock him off the puck. He seems to have a little more finesse than Jagr with his stick handling and spinning/backwards skating though.

He reminds me of Jagr in the same way Gaborik reminds of Bure... but honestly neither is close to the original. Definition of "poor man's"

Still with what I've seen from Nash its surprising to me he isn't a regular 40 goal guy. Complete package for a winger.

Yeah, Nash has been everything I had hoped for so far. He is a difference-maker almost every shift. He really adds a new dimension.

Oh yeah, neither one is as good as the original. But once Nash and Gabby both get their games going and our D tightens up, we should have a nasty team.

Really? He's been good, but I think Nash could be alot better.

Still early. 2 games is not enough to evaluate anyone.

95 Devs started out 0-3-1 and went on to win the Cup

Its that we're not used to such a dynamic player. Gaborik has scored 110 goals in 3 seasons with us but he does it in such an understated manner; disappearing and then reappearing. Richards is a star but doesn't have that physical presence. Since Jagr left we have't had a player that can flat out dominate the offensive zone.

Now whether this line can work with Richards's Wind, Nash' Earth, and Gaborik's Fire altogether, we'll have to see. Maybe not enough puck for so many scorers.

Here's another positive. The 2 best players that we added (Nash and Pyatt) have played very well. You'd think the rest of the players will get better. I don't think any of the players played so far above their heads last year that the players from last year can't reach that level.

Well if it works, Earth, Wind, and Fire will be their new name

Although I'd say Gaborik is the wind and Richards the fire, but I digress.

Nash looks motivated...he didn't look motivated in Columbus the past few years.

He's going to be a monster.

He's had 6 hits for us in two games.
Last year for Columbus, he had 6 hits in his last 16 games with them.

I don't think it was a coincidence last year that he suddenly started having 2,3,4,5,6 hit games in February then it dropped off again right after the trade deadline.
