come on now canucks fans, how are we going to call kassian the new bertuzzi when eager is the back-of-head puncher?

Minus one good shot, slight edge in the fight to Eager.

I hate when people say blood matters in winning a fight. The other guys head might have welts and goose eggs all over it that we just cant see. A superficial cut on the head is gonna bleed but not do any real damage.

But on this fight, pretty even for me

Watching the game live, it seemed like Eager underestimated Kassian at first, then turned it on when he saw the kid was for real. As a result Kassian had the early edge, then it evened out a bit as the fight went on.

Of note, while no one on the Oilers minds if Eager sits in the box, Kassian was playing with the Sedins so taking him off the ice was a side-win.

Another off note that Eager hit sedin into the boards and then tried to lift him into the bench. Kassian answered that bell so that was also a side-win showing that Kassian sticks up for the sedins.

I'll give the L to Kassian.

Never liked the guy, always thought he was a meathead.

I'm not sure if you're trying to counter me or something? But since you brought it up actually, Eager also went after Kassian because of his after-the-whistle hit on Hall, too. So yeah, both guys sticking up for their teammates. Definitely nice to see.

Well if you're scoring strikes, Kassian clearly won. If you're scoring some sort of cheapo wrassling moves Eager got some of those in at the end, that ain't hockey fighting, you see that every time there's a pile-up in the crease. Eager was running around all night throwing late hits and Kassian gave him some back.

Eager never was known for being an intelligent player. and his fighting skill r average at best. he's fortunate Kassian didn't make him look bad.

Eager only landed when Kass was turned completely away from him or when he was down on the ice. Eager is a cheap SOB who can't do anything legit.

@TSNRyanRishaug: Eager doesn’t appear to be on ice today. Cut in fight last night.

Agreed. Only surpassed by my hatred of when people think throwing a bunch of punches is a win.

I thought Kassian won the fight when I saw it. Hockeyfights.com reviewers agree. About 60% in favor of Kassian winning...

Not sure how any one can call that a win for Eager.

Clear decision for ZK ...

Eager is injured and out day-to-day due to "facial swelling".

I am biased but i did not like the punches to the back of the head by eager. No matter who was doing it.

Ufc does not allow them for a reason, and a ref should step in the minute it happens.
This.

These threads are classic since for the most part, the actual play-by-play/blow-by-blow is skewed in the favour of the colours your team wears.

Looked to me that Eager was totally unprepared, (see underestimated Kassian) and no doubt took a solid shot to the face that stunned him. It was late in the game and I didn't see Eager return, so he clearly needed repairs. He'll seek out a rematch and will have learned a thing or two - maybe that Kassian's legit.

But Canucks fans going off about rabbit punches - come on. When guys are throwing the meat hammers on skates, there's that type of punch in most fights. You get credit for throwing the punch more than whether it (or where it) landed. More is being made of what there was. Or wasn't.

I think Canucks fans still hold a little something against Eager for some "acting out" in the Hawks/Nucks series a couple years ago. Because I doubt anyone else is really taking the same heat for what he did here with Kassian.

LOL@ Eager out, day-to-day with "facial swelling." Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Winning and losing sometimes can't be called at the time of the fight. I would call this a draw - Kassian had the edge to start, with Eager pouring it on a bit in the last half. Bizarre takedown but whatever.

That said, now we have more information. Kassian was back on the ice 5 minutes later. Eager is day to day with an injury and isn't skating.

Hindsight tells us Kassian won by doing more physical damage.

what a joke.

Oiler fans would be claiming an Eager victory if he was knocked out cold noting Eager broke Kassian's fists with his face.

The only thing Eager got (besides the punches to the face) was rabbit punches to the back of the Kassians head as he was turned around and could not defend himself and the stupid half nelson wrestle down.

Kassian is a beast and is going to turn into Lucic within 3 years.

Exactly. Takedowns in a hockey fight are a complete joke. It means either you're getting served, or you're too shook to stand and tilly.
