Ullstrom is a real player and fully developed. So glad he is up with the team, just need him to get minutes.

Offensively sure. But he's a defenceman and he played like crap defensively.

You must not watch him on defense then. Two of the goals against in the 3rd were his fault for making a clueless play on the puck.

I thought he would be a nice solid bottom sixer(nothing special but a guy that is needed) but after seeing this game I might have to alter my projection of him.

reasoner is out once bailey comes in, i hope. finley should be done after today, the top 4 looked EXHAUSTED because they all played 20+ minutes.

streit had a good turnaround game, okposo played excellent. the only negatives i have are the coaching staff, finley and reasoner.

And there were many other close calls. He really did almost cost this team the game single handed.

Defense wise he's already dropped to the 4 spot in my book. AMAC/Hamonic and Strait look much better defensively right now.

Offensively Streit is awesome.

So I leave my grandmas house it's 3-0

Isles radio simply does not come in Queens and certainly not in Brooklyn. Get home, find out my DVR didn't tape the game for whatever reason. I planned to stay away and just watch the replay tonight, but i couldn't do it.

WOOOOOHOOOO Isles win. looking forward to seeing Ullstroms goal though.

This x100000.. Ullstrom is going to turn a few heads this season and there was absolutely no reason for Cizikas not playing Saturday.

I dont know which game you were watching because Streit played very very well today.

As for the Isles in general, this game was beautiful to watch. Besides these 10 minutes of sloppy play in the third period, we played great. Continue this and we will be winning a lot of game. Very optimistic after this performance

question: streit seems to shoot even when it looks like there is a better option to pass. is he told to shoot? is he perhaps selfish? not trying to troll here- it was just a bit jarring.

Streit played better than he did on Saturday, but then again, he couldn't really play worse than he did on Saturday. For someone who should have his legs already from playing in Europe, he looks awful.

I hope to see Finley scratched and either Hickey or Martinek in on Thursday. Carkner looks ok, but both of those guys paired up together is not a smart move, especially when going up against a line like Tampa's top line.

Glad Okposo scored, but he really has been just a big load these first 2 games. I'm hoping it's just conditioning from the long layoff. He needs to step up the effort.

I like McDonald's effort, but I'd rather see Bailey and Joensuu in his spot. As far as I'm concerned Aucoin can replace Reasoner, but I'm not sure we're going to see that this year barring injury. Maybe if Cizikas really stands out, he can take over the 3rd line center role, but until then (and until the injured players come back), I think we'll see CC on the wing when Boulton doesn't dress.

Let's hear it for the first win of the season!

Don't get the Streit hate that game. Thought he looked good.

Ullstrom has won me over. He looked amazing.

JT's release is way better then last year. If you blink you will miss it. He was also shooting in stride which was very nice to see.

Finely is a liability.

Okposo just looks out of shape to me but improved a ton since the devils game.

Grabs was like 1 for 4 on breakaways. Is that an improvement lol? Played great though.

He has been on the ice for 4 of the first 5 goals scored against us. Maybe not all the goals were his fault but a couple of them he could have played better.

All that being said I think one problem with Streit is when you have a 3rd pairing of Carkner and Finley, it puts alot of extra pressure on the other 2 pairings. Streit basically shouldn't be playing 29 minutes a game like he did tonight

I missed the game. I think Sun Sports is replaying it later. I'll catch it then.

EVERYTHING about Okposo's game other than his lucky goal.

He turns over the puck nonstop (at least 10 times a game). I counted over 10 today. He can't skate, he doesn't hit, he's slow, he has a terrible shot, he cant receive a pass, he cant make a pass, he has almost zero hockey sense, and his thought process on a breakaway is laughable. He is the worst player on the ice aside from Reasoner.

Im not gonna argue here..we won that's all that matters. These are the same fans who thought Jason Blake and Trent Hunter were good players when they were here lol

Yes, it actually is for Grabner...lol...I really like the way he's playing so far. He's making some very nice passes also.

Missed the game but i was following on my phone. When Tampa made it 4-3 im thinking only the Islanders blow leads like this. Glad they were able to hold on.

Streit was good today. Not great, but he was good. He carried the puck better (at least he skated, wasn't slow motion) and ran the PP okay. He wasn't strong in his own zone but he never was. Doesn't deserve the hate, even though he almost did a Snow Angel on one goal.

Okposo was also very good today. He did fumble some pucks but he generated a lot of chances, played very well on that top line. They had 14 shots and each of them could have scored a hat trick today, he deserves no criticism for this game at all.

JT was JT.

Moulson was snakebitten. Haven't said that much in three years.

Boyes is pretty good. He'll be much better once Bailey gets back. I don't like his chemistry with Grabs/Nielsen - he's the 3rd wheel. I'd put JJ or Ullstrom on that line, or Matty Marts who's been really good in the first two games as well.

Hamonic is really taking a step forward this year. He looks great defensively, better offensively, not taking penalties, playing physical.

MacD was MacD - solid. And so was Strait, he's the new MacD!

Finley and Carkner didn't hurt us, that's a huge win. They played okay but scary to see them out there together.

Nabby was Nabby. Thank you. I hope he starts the next game.

Frans was Frans - solid.

Cizikas looked really good, he should stay in the lineup.

Ullstrom was very impressive. He does everything well, he's a full-time top-nine NHL player now. No question about it.

Aucoin was really good, very smart with the puck. I still think he's a minor leaguer, along with McDonald, but they can fill in minutes when there are injuries.

And that's that. Bring on the next one!
