Any way to reasonably get 1 of Perry or Getzlaf as UFA?

Any chance we can make this work with our cap situation?

Perry would replace Horton nicely if he is gone.

Getzlaf would replace Krejci nicely if he is moved.

Can we open up $4M by putting Savard on LTIR? How does that work?

Who would we need to move to make room for 1 of these studs assuming we resign Rask at around $5M? Boychuk? Krejci? Peverley? Seidenberg?

What about moving Rask for prospects/picks and going with Subban in net? Stupid?

Am I just dreaming or is there an inkling of hope here?

dreaming.

Not enough cash.
To get cash would rob Peter to pay Paul.
Subban? In about 3 years.....maybe.

Unless the Bruins plan on dealing two of Boychuk, Kelly or Peverley, there is absolutely no way the Bruins will be able to compete with the offers from every other team for Perry on the UFA market and still be able to ice a full roster.

I'd do

Let Horton walk, perry replaces Horton

Trade Paille, promote Mcdermid

I love all of the above players but how about

Lucic - Krejci - Perry
Marchand - Bergeron - Seguin
Spooner - Kelly - Peverley
Mcdermid - Campbell - Thornton

Pretttty pretttty good

And I think cross/Warsofsky could replace one of Boychuk/Ference at some point if we couldn't fit them under the cap

Boychuk may not be a 10 in everything he does but he is a great fit for this team. I can never understand why people here are so ready to dump him whenever these questions come up.

I agree. He's a great fit on the team. He might have gotten a bit too generous of a contract, but that's pretty much the going rate for a reliable mid-pairing guy. He logs important minutes and is probably not as easily replaced as some might think.

WHY would you even consider to replace Krejci by
Getzlaf ??? Bruins are doing pretty well no need to panic yet 2 wins in 2 games not too bad Perry would make a nice addition but we must keep Horton!

Because Getzlaf is a significant upgrade over Krejci

Let's see what kind of seasons everyone has before we gut the team and bring in potential UFAs. I know people are really hard on the Lucic/Krejci/Horton line, and I understand that, but the Bruins aren't a team that needs a de jure first line that scores every single night. I've found this line to play better than I expected them to, and I assume most of my negative expectations came from spending too much time here.

Not saying you should never upgrade if you can, but it's way too soon to be assessing this.

Also, if Subban does eventually make it, don't count on a goalie trade. People talked for years about moving one of Thomas or Rask (usually Thomas) when they were both playing like #1 goalies. They never did and they weren't going to. We're years away from this situation with Subban, but you can't have enough depth at goaltender, so don't be foreseeing any kind of Rask trade if he keeps playing this way, no matter how Khudobin/Svedberg/Subban et al can perform in the future.

I would think not, we need to give our players raises that might cover the cap raise, we are in a very rare spot we could retain the same 10 forwards and 4-5D #1 goalie for the next 5 years, PC has done an amazing job to get us to this point, our top six is set Horton just gells with our team Perry is better sure but Horton has the chemistry.

I'd love to have Perry in Hortons spot. No brainer move.

Horton will probably get more than people think (or will like) at UFA.

I'm guessing one of them is a lock to end up in Toronto. The other probably goes to Detroit.

In short, no.

The cap going down kind of screws the pooch.

Krejci could probably be replaced internally if he is dealt for a D. Think koko, Spoons or Carl.

Horts would be another matter. Perry would be ideal, but would put them close or over the new cap.

Even with Savard on LTIR at the beginning of the season, the Bruins will still only have $12,618,333 with 7 roster spots to fill (accounting for all players who are on guaranteed NHL contracts) if the cap stays at $64.3 million next season.

Perry will be cheaper than Horton? Why would Perry be willing to sign with Boston for less than Horton?
