Beast. Just look at his stats. He's doing everything. Winning one big face-off after the next. Point a game thus far. And he is winning one on one battles now. Logging big, important minutes.

I don't know if it's the new hockey hair or what, but he's looking like a complete player with real potential.

He's been real dependable. Not a guy who's going to put up 80 points, but I like what I see. Hope he can keep it up.

Like I've said for a long time now, Bozak is a highly reliable, versatile player who will have a good NHL career.

The problem is that we haven't been using him properly.

Very happy that others are taking note. I think LloydChristmas says it best - he's reliable.

Interesting decision to be made by Nonis on what to do with him, as he is a pending UFA.

Hopefully we can get him signed up at some point throughout the course of the year/start of the off season. Very valuable player regardless if we get a true 1 C for Kessel. Hopefully he keeps up the fantastic 2 way play were seeing early on. Did an awesome job for us on the PK against Pits.

I really wish we had a 1st line centre because this guy would be way more appreciated and likely be an elite 3 line centre if we did.

If he gets 48 points this year, will he be considered a first line center?

Nope, guaranteed the Leafs walk away. They were going to outright release him last season, DO said so

On a serious note, Tyler is much better than a 3c. Guy is STILL developing, and is already a solid defensive 2c.

They need to sign him to a reasonable contract before his stock sky rockets. This guy has been getting better every year. I thought he hit his ceiling 2 seasons ago, and last year was an anomaly. I may have been wrong, and he's worth the risk at 2.5-3m a season for 4-5 years.

Gets seriously underrated on here. He's taken the 2nd most faceoffs in the league (behind Henrik Sedin) and is 61.5% on the draw. To be honest, if he could play like he has so far consistently, I wouldn't be mad about him being our #1C

He's been tremendous thus far.

It's definitely the flow giving him magic powers

Before I even clicked on this thread, I was going to comment on his new flow having powers, haha.

He's been very impressive so far. He's really putting his potential on display and I just hope that potential comes with consistency because the Leafs will need it.

Though I'll point out that I've never disliked Bozak. My biggest criticism about Bozak had nothing to do with Bozak himself but rather, it was regarding how he was being used (which is the coach's fault).

It's early but I will make this comparison

Boston has Bergeron and Krejci

Leafs have Bozak and Grabo

1A-1B or 2A-2B

We can even look at NJ last year

Zajac and Henrique

2A-2B C's.

I think we are over obsessed with the need for a #1C stud C.

Teams win with 2 number 2'c's now.

Bozie has been very good since Carlyle has become our coach going back to last season, got to like it when a player develops right under our own eyes. Finally nice to see him get some love here. There were a few of us that noticed last year. 4evaBlue was one I recall.

MM and I called out a breaking season last year pretty easily hahah

Agreed to some extent but we are far away from a devil or a bruin.

Have always been a fan of his. I remember how many glorious opportunities he missed early on in his career because he wasn't quite up to speed with the NHL game yet, but I maintained that with some more experience, he'd get more reliable when it comes to finishing the plays. He's been a great two-way guy for us already, has always shown very high hockey IQ, has chemistry with our biggest offensive weapon, and now that he's dominating the face-off circle and starting to put up some points early, it definitely looks like he's starting to reach some of that potential that he's had since the beginning. Love it.

I agree there, I think this team is still a long way from being a contender, but I would be lying if I didn't say they have surprised me. Comes down to maturity of certain players but more than anything RC has brought in structure and accountabilty.

Think Nonis will still be a seller rather than buyer at the deadline.

But what I meant most is this overwhelming need for a #1C that may or may not be out there, is not our biggest need.

Completely agree. Never really allowed to grow into his role as he's been sort of thrust into the #1 centre position, due to having chemistry with Kessel. If Kadri continues his production and keeps improving, we may have 3 pretty good centres, even if its not a bonafide #1 guy. Having depth at the postion can still give you a very competitive team. Will say this though, most teams who have won a cup without a star #1 centre, generally do have a star #1 goaltender, and that could be an issue for us down the road.

My concern as a casual observer is that he is playing in a contract year with UFA coming up. If this is just the beginning of him showing possiblity of strong line first line talent, then okay, but I worry he gets signed to huge contract he falls back to his (still quality) previous form of past couple of seasons. Up to this point I've seen him as a good 3rd line center who has been playing 1st out of necessity. Hate to see him "fall back" to that after this season/big payday.

Excellent post, #1G is our biggest need, you cannot win a cup without one. Even with Messier, 99, Coffey, Lowe, Kurri, Anderson, Grant Fuhr was a key to the Oilers winning dynasty teams.

Played over 23 minutes last night. Guy is winning face-offs, killing it on the fore-check, being defensively responsible, putting the puck in the net, and throwing his weight around.

I thought he'd have a good year, but he's playing even better than I thought he could so far.
