I would pass. Kassian is going to be a beast. He is abnormally fast for a huge guy. We are hoping for Bertuzzi like offense in 5 years or so from the guy.

No. I want Kassian. Unless your trading some elite superstar I want to see the big guy develop into Bertuzzi 2.0.

EDIT: What the guy above me said.

That's like half of the Canucks grit in one trade. There's no chance they would consider that. Bieksa and Kas are Canucks for the long haul.

Also I really like Pleks. It's just that going from Kas and Bieksa to Pleks would change the identity of the Canucks so much, making them so much softer.

Well just keep in mind that part of the trade was either Diaz or White (and frankly as a Habs fan I could part with both if that's what it took), and White is as gritty as they come. He's not a skilled forward by any means, but as a 4th line energy guy who will fight any heavyweight in the league he fits the bill.

I think I'd do this trade. Plekanec is a fantastic player, but the biggest thing Montreal lacks is real top 4 defensemen. Add Bieksa to the mix, and you have Markov, Subban, Gorges, and Bieksa. We'd have trouble this year, trading Plekanec basically guarantees we finish in the basement this year, but I think going forward a 1-2-3 punch of Galchenyuk-Desharnais-Eller would be good, especially if we can add Kassian to the mix.

I see most Vancouver fans disagreeing, and I understand where they're coming from. I think it's a good trade for both teams, but it's definitely unrealistic.

I'd be willing to trade Kassian, just not Bieksa. Would be looking for center depth.

I wouldn't mind a Bieksa for Plekanec trade. They both have about 5 years left in the tank and we could use a top 4 RD even if PK decides to play a little later in the season.

Pass. We need a 3rd line center with size and two way play, especially if we're trading away size and toughness in Kassian. It would have to be based around Eller I think.

Also there's no way Bieksa waives his NTC.

Subban WILL be back with you guys, sooner than later. I gaurantee it.

Again, I like the Habs and I really like Plekanec, but the Canucks just couldn't trade away Bieksa and Kassian because of what they mean to the team. Bieksa has been a large part of their identity and their grit. And Kassian represents a change in the direction of the team, towards a more physical style.

Bieksa won't be traded. He has a NTC, took a discount to re-sign, has never played with another team and is best friends with Kes and Burr. Might want to modify him out of the deal if interested in making it plausible.

I'm looking forward 2-3 years
with or without Plekanec we still aren't contenders

Tinordi / Subban
Beaulieu / Bieksa
Emelin / Ellis
Gorges

Galchenyuk / Desharnais / Eller is OK C depth moving forward
Bournival and Leblanc still have time to become a number 3 or 4 |C

As a Habs fan, would do it in a second. Plek might have been our #1 center, but he is not a #1 in any contending team. Solid two-way #2 that shies away in the playoffs. For the Canuck fans, not so good as they would be trading away two of their very few playoff-type players....isn't the ultimate goal to win the Stanley Cup?

In another thread several Habs fans agreed to Gaunce + 1st for Pleks...what I proposed is not far off, plus Sauve is québécois and I hear they like to have their own..

Like StringerBell, I would be open to trading Kassian but not Bieska. Our core is virtually untouchable at this point, with the obvious exception in goaltending.

Gaunce, Kassian, Jensen. All available in a Plekanec trade, and yes we would add to one of them. Ideally, if the Habs retool, we buy on Plek and Diaz.

Bieksa is the main peice for Montreal, we need the large body right D. I guess we should move on
with Booth and Kessel out I just thought Canucks had the extra D to spare
