Looks like there's a possibility of Fraser and Holzer getting in tonight for Leafs. Franson and Komisarek getting extra work after skate.
Moving Burke's boxes to new office?

Btw 15,000 season ticket holders got the game free, basically most season ticket holders are corporate. This move actually makes mlse more money in the long run.
Says Sportsnet right in the title.

What does the bolded part mean?

Komi was one of the best dman we had in game 1. If hes sitting for Fraser or Holzer there is a serious issue and i hate Komi

Holzer and Fraser draw in.

Komisarek and Franson sit.

Was expecting Steckel in today as well, but seeing what a beat down they put on Philly yesterday, it's good that Brown and Orr will be remaining in the lineup.

- Looks all but certain Ben Scrivens gets the start against the Sabres. Carlyle liked what he saw in Game 1 in Montreal and has simply asked him to simplify his game a little. Buffalo had a scouting report on the rookie goalie up in their dressing room, and one of the things you can look for them to capitalize on is Scrivens’s tendency to over handle the puck.

- Carlyle has gone with eight d-men to start the year, which means it’s a challenge to get everyone playing time. No. 9 is on the way too with Jake Gardiner proclaiming himself 100 per cent Monday after the morning skate. Expect Gardiner to draw into the lineup on Wednesday or Thursday, meaning one defenceman is headed to the Marlies.

- To decide who that will be, the Leafs are cycling in two new defencemen against the Sabres, with the Mark Fraser and Korbinian Holzer pairing that served as the Marlies second unit getting a look at the Leafs third pair. Mike Komisarek and Cody Franson will sit this one out.

Is company money different than an individual's money? How in the world would it make them more money in the long run?

I was hoping Kostka would sit out tonight. Sure he's been a pretty good surprise but I just don't see all the hype around him. When Gardiner comes back, I'm hoping he replaces Kostka with Phaneuf, and we keep a tough dman up with the team as the #7 (Fraser or Holzer).

Gardiner - Phaneuf
Liles - Komisarek
Gunnarsson - Franson
-Holzer/Fraser

I love how Carlyle is giving everyone a chance and rewarding guys that have worked hard at the AHL level.

Lets hope that they make it a hard decision for him to take them both out of the lineup.

Anyone on D for that matter.
I think D rotation is happening because we are playing 4 games in next 6 days in chess pattern home and away, so there are 4 games and 4 trips as well in 6 days.

The team is carrying 8 Dmen right now. Will be 9 later this week when Gardiner returns to duty. That's all this is.

With no pre-season + shortened training camp, Randy is using an extended amount of time to give other players a look and rewarding some guys (like Frazer and Holzer) who have put in good shifts with the Marlies.

There's no way the team runs with 9. Some will be moved back to the Marlies or traded, but seems like Carlyle is being given time by Nonis to see what they have and make that decision.

Not sure why anybody would place a whole lot of importance in how various defensemen looked against Montreal. They were awful offensively, and made it very easy for everyone to look good.

I was skeptical of the kind of job Randy Carlyle was going to do when first hired but what I really like from him is how he understands the team is an underdog and has brought the team together to play a "play for each other" concept. No one player is bigger than the team, and individual stats don't mean ****. While the Canadiens game was a sloppy one, the team forchecked hard, layed the body, fought, and went to the dirty areas. The team doesn't have to have guys that are 6'3 to play tough and they are proving that.

He mentioned us playing 4 games in 6 nights this week, and with the condensed schedule, the team needs to get used to rotating players in and out throughout the season.

He also mentioned that apparently Jake's close to returning, and he wanted to give all the defensemen (who earned their spot in training camp) a decent shot at showing their stuff before deciding who may get demoted.
So we don't need to overreact?

Ok, good to know.

Exactly. The Leafs will always sell out regardless of promotions or no promotions. The free game was a good gesture to the fans. There is no extra profit down the road to be made from it cause they already maximize profits.

Fraser will go on waivers once Gardiner is cleared to play. Rather play Franson.

The problem with telling a young goalie to not handle the puck is that they'll avoid it and thus be terrible at it for perhaps their entire career. Let them work on it and, though they'll make mistakes, they could end up a much better goalie for it.

IIRC Price iced the puck himself on a Toronto PP shoot-in. I want a goalie who can do that.

I don't want to second guess Carlyle because I like most of the lineup decisions he's made thus far.

But...Gardiner, Franson, and Komisarek sitting in favor of Kostka, Holzer, and Fraser seems very odd on the surface.
