Stanley Cup Run

Simple question for fun: assuming you had the choice to watch your team win a Stanley Cup in four hard fought seven game series or in go a perfect 16-0 and sweep all opponents, which one would you pick?

Too close. From a pure in the moment enjoyment perspective, the hard-fought, up an down 7-games each would be more fun to experience.

But a full sweep has never been done, and likely means you will be set up as a powerhouse the next season as well.

So immediate enjoyment-7 games each.
Long-term- 16 game sweep

Watching the Bruins fight through 3 game 7s was absolutely nerve wracking.

That said, I think the ups and downs make it that much more special.

Normally, I would say a seven game slugfest for the entertainment value, and do feel that way for the Habs. Vancouver on the other hand would prove so much by utterly slaughtering teams, while HF dies of shock.

Sweep.
That way the team is in the discussion for best team of all time instead of the detractors saying that they never should have won round 1 let alone the cup

As a lifelong kings fan I know I felt a little left out not seeing a 7 game series or even one that was very competitive. im sure im in the minority but they just dominated to the point where after round 2 I wasn't even concerned it was obvious they were going all the way to me anyway.

not complaining at all, but i did mention it to a few others in the middle of that run that as a fan it was too easy and i felt a bit underwhelmed with how stressful it should have been if there were some game 7's they had to go through.

The four seven game series, the ups and downs in playoffs are what make it really special.

I'm SHOCKED at the results. I thought it would sweeps in a laugher.

1) I'm choosing between watching my team lose 12 times or 0 times?

2) Last year everyone was on the Kings' jock after the 2nd round (as they should have been) when they only lost 1 game and the Rangers were RIDICULED for going through 2 games 7s. If you go through 4 game 7s, especially if it's against lower seeds you will be considered one of the weakest champions ever. If you go 16-0, you'll be considered one of the best.

4 seven game series'. The great thing about the playoffs is being on the edge of your seat throughout. A game 7 is way more enjoyable than a 3-0 lead. I don't care about being the best team of all-time or being ridiculed for needing all 7 games to beat someone. I just want to watch great playoff hockey.

Yeah but like most things, it's only a problem when the Rangers do it.

They never said they were the #1 seed, you could be the 8th just making it into that playoffs. The Rangers got ridiculed because they were the #1 seed and went to two game 7's against the 7th and 8th seed.

There's no excuse for the Sens series, the Rangers blew a few leads in that one.

The Capitals were no 7 seed. Green played 32 games, Backstrom played 42 games, and Holtby [who from what I've seen is pretty clearly their best goalie, not sure what management is looking at to be honest] played 7. All three of them were in the starting lineup in the playoffs.

Considering how often the top seeds bow out in the first round in today's game and it just happened last year (Vancouver and Boston) you'd think people would realize there's parity in the NHL and winning a series no matter what your record is, is impressive.

Hell some of Detroit's best teams either lost in the first round to teams far inferior to them (01, 03 and 06) and almost lost (96, 02). If a team like Detroit can struggle in the first round a top seed so can a team like the Rangers that were a top seed for the first time since 94, I believe.

Sure, 4 game 7's would be entertaining during the playoffs... but at the end of the day, I'd rather have had my team be a dominant and unbeatable team that won rather than a team that would probably be one of the worst cup winners in NHL history needing 4 game 7's

Sweep.

Jeez, due to the lockout, they could be awarding the Stanley Cup around the 4th of July if every round went 7 games, LOL

I'll take the 7 games series because it's more exciting and also because...

If I knew my team was gonna win then I'd prefer all 7 game series even being down 0-3 in all. Realistically 16-0 would be easier on the nerves.
