I vote for Grigori Perelman for this quote of his when a journalist tried to interview him:
''You are disturbing me.I am picking mushrooms.''

most physics guys are mathematician
so I write in vote either Einstein or Richard Feynman
Feynman is a personal hero of mine because I was lucky enough to met him a few years before he died at a Jazz festival of all things. I remember talking with him about Jazz and it was until later someone told me who he was(this was after the shuttle investigation)---his writing are better then some people of his stature because he was able to write in normal language and not down to his audience

Very surprised John Nash is not in the poll
He was a mathematician
Sure he got his Nobel in Economics but he was a mathematician without a doubt and he should be in the poll

As a fan of math I am a fan of all these guys. I do particularly like Gauss and Euler. You left off Lagrange and Fermat though. Those guys were great.
