MMA (UFC) Questions Thread

Hello, I really apologize if there is a thread that covers this I must have missed it.

I am new to MMA and the UFC, but in the last week I have fallen in love. In 3 days I watched all of the Koscheck and GSP TUF season, and completely fallen in love with the UFC. I am one of those people that need to be a knowledgeable fan in the sports I love, so this week I've been trying to learn things like crazy.

I have a few questions:

1. Are there any good resources online that show different key moves? I only really know what the rear naked choke and guillotine look like (and the triangle?).

2. Are there any websites that let me watch TUF 17? I want to watch the season before the big match in a couple of weeks...

3. Do smaller name UFC fighters only fight in the UFC? It seems like they only fight a few times a year, do they only train in the other time?

If there isn't a thread like this, maybe we could use it for beginners to the sport to learn. If there is, mods can merge it

1. Not really mma but there is a good judo instructional video by Neil Adams on youtube. It is older but it has good demos with competition examples and shows many of the chokes you see in mma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vA4wlH1jmY (35-40 minutes).

2. I got nothing.

3. I am pretty sure the contracts with the UFC are exclusive.

3. All UFC contracts are exclusive. I've seen a couple very low level guys get tuneup fights outside the UFC but it almost never happens.

Guys will essentially get tune-up fights by losing a couple fights, getting released by the UFC, and hopefully winning a few fights in smaller organizations. Then often they get invited back.

http://www.ultimatefighter.com/videos/

All of the TUF 17 episodes should be there. They also have full episodes of previous seasons. They used to have every single season but it looks like there's only a few of them now. I recommend watching season one, IMO it's the best one and they all the episodes on the site. TUF 4 (comeback) and TUF 5 are very good as well but you'll probably have to download those if you want to watch.

1) There are a ton of MMA Instructional videos out there for purchase or download, you just have to search for them.

2) Any site where you watch tv you can most likely watch TUF.

3) Most if not all only fight in the UFC because of the exclusive contracts. There have been times in the past where fighters were loaned, ex: Chuck Liddell was allowed to fight in a Pride Tourney.

4) You didn't ask a 4th question, but if you are just getting into the sport make sure you watch every single PRIDE FC event. They are some of the best fights ever. EVER!!!! Prime Fedor, Nog, Cro Cop, Wanderlei Silva, Shogun Rua, Rampage etc etc.

For number 1, there is always the Gracie breakdown on YouTube. Free and teaches you a lot about technique and the options a fighter has in certain situations.

I highly recommend the following fights:

Matt Grice vs Dennis Bermudez (Frontrunner for 2013 Fight of the Year)
Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard II & III
Nick Diaz vs Takanori Gomi (PRIDE)

Or pretty much any fight that Joe Lauzon has ever had.
