People that hate on Jack hate on him because of a :30 clip on You tube of him being sarcastic about a player on your team.

Every team has homer broadcasters, if you don't think you do you are just blind. I hear Canuck fans bash Edwards, John Garrett is a ridiculous homer. I hear Penguin fans bash Edwards, you have Steigerwald, a guy who should wear ****ing clown shoes to work.
I laughed out loud on that one

I think the guy casting with Jack is a bigger homer!

I think he is great! He, and his color guy (Andy Brinkly or something) are one of the most knowledgeable broadcast teams around; and they are entertaining as hell. When the Sens play the Bruins, I actually switch to the Bruins broadcast.

homer/bias home-team play by play are all OK in my books.

I enjoy tuning into games, example: Leafs with Bowen, and hearing someone who is a leaf fan call the game and work angles towards the leafs. Well actually Bowen isnt that biased unless the leafs are playing well.

John Garret, Joe Bowen and Steigerwald are worse... though I would say Joe Bowen is the best out of those 3.

He's very bias, but he's an announcer for the Bruins' network. He has to be. It's not like he's working for NBC. Speaking of NBC, if he ever called a national game between 2 neutral teams, I think he'd earn a lot of respect.
Im sorry. I can get on with he's entertaining and the boston fans love him. I get that. Its wrong but i get it. but I cant get down with "He knows his stuff" he really is a jobber and does not get the game at all.. Brick saves his ass ALL of the time.

The difference is, we all hate him! I'd be shocked if you could find 5 posters who like Steigerwald. You may get the occassional "he doesn't bother me", but nobody enjoys listening to him.

If anything, Pens fan's opinions should be more valid, they know what listening to an idiot is like, they do it all the time!

The thing is, Edwards knows how to call a game very very well. You'd be hard pressed to find 5 better PBP guys in hockey.

His uber-fan persona is part of the schtick of local broadcasts. It's really not a big deal. If it bugs you that much, stop dropping in on NESN broadcasts... problem solved.

His personality certainly fits with the team. He's like the Brad Marchand of broadcasting. Horribly obnoxious and couldn't get away with his shtick anywhere else.

Sharks guys on Comcast, Rick Jeanneret, and Doc Emrick are all amazing announcers. Jack Edwards has a personality, but I don't think in a good way. Every announcer has to have bias (since they work for that team) but sometimes he goes a bit beyond.

I am a B's fan and love Jack. Having Andy Brickley with him is a good balance.

Since I am at all home games at the Garden I often wonder what Jack is ranting about when something happens in the game.

Jack is fun and knows hockey. Andy B. is excellent.

I'll start listening to his play-by-play when he starts calling neutral games.

His homer bias + the fact that leafs continuously take beating from B's doesn't help either.

I can't stand Craig Laughlin sometimes but Beninati is easily in the Top 3 announcers.

Zing.

That Makaveli guy cant let 2011 go. Just looking for excuses about how we demolished them, and that we are divers (lol). Whatta joke. The guy has too much time on his hands. Every time there is anything close to a dive from the Bruins, he feels the need to make a 15 minute video about it. I think he actually has an inside crush on the Bruins and wishes he was a fan.

Edit: In one of his videos, him and all the other canucks fans think that we are yelling "FLOPPER" at Mason Raymond when he got hurt, when we were actually just razzing Luongo some more...

Hey here's how the majority of this thread and all Jack Edwards hate threads go.

B's Fans: "I love Jack and he's an awesome entertaining broadcaster!"

All other fans: "Jack is biased annoying over the top ficticious and just down right horrible."

Lol, and this is coming from a B's fan. I like Jack because when I want to watch the B's play, I actually want to be entertained by both the call of the game and the action that is taking place. The whole "biased" argument is completely invalid for the sole reason that all broadcast teams, specific for you team, is biased. Would you want Jack to be on the Hab's side of the fence when Hamrlik got knocked down? No, because as a B's fan you probably were yelling GET UP! just like Jack was. And any fan would probably agree.

If Jack were on national TV like Emrick he'd probably be more "bearable" for the "other fans".

Here's a link to a NON biased Jack Edwards call from literally THIS very weekend.

Yeah THAT call wasn't very biased was it?

not going to lie, but he gets annoying at some points this coming from a B's fan. During the opener he mention how Chris Bourque had top 6 skill... lets not go crazy here though he aint the worst but I really could see where people are coming from

Personally I'm not a fan of the PBP guys who call the play at the top of their lungs like they aren't wearing a mic, nor the ones who feel the need to toss in editorial commentary all the time (what is the colour guy for?). Not many good ones left.

The comment he made about Chara and the olympic gymnast that did the ceremonial puckdrop alone made up for all his homerism.
