Watching the Houston - Santos game today really puts in perspective how far we still need to go if we want to play a significant role in the Champions League. Now I'm not one of those people who automatically thinks a Mexican side automatically is better than an MLS side (I find that is ignorant as believing Henry is a better player currently than Keane) but if we can to hang with the big boys (Seattle, Santos, Galaxy, Monterrey ect) we need to keep moving forward.
On a side note, I've loved what I've seen out of Santos on the few games I've seen them play over the last couple years. Very nice Mexican style of soccer, change of pace, lots of through balls and far less overlapping and crossing.

I saw my first few Mexican games this winter. Among other things, I was impressed by the lack of crap: very little diving, whining to refs, etc.

I noticed that too. I think those antics are more seen in certain central american teams. It also helps many players are national team members for Mexico, US or other countries, they're actually good players who can win on their merit
Also, Kenny Miller expected to have the captain's armband. Would have preferred YPL but I suppose the language barrier might still be a little too big.
Probably thought he had drawn a red card since it was a clear attempt at goal. Still think he should have pushed forward since he beat the defender anyway, was a very Robson-esque stunt just stopping dead like that with his arms in the air.

That was infuriating -- had he kept running it would have been a far better chance than the free kick.
On the topic, do MLS refs never play the advantage? It seems the whistle always goes, even when the fouled team is still controlling.
