Agreed, Buffalo can be happy for a moment with the win but they got some things they need to work on badly. Not often do you win less than 30% of the draws and win the game. Not often do you get out shot nearly 2:1 and win.
The Sabres tonight remind me of the early 2000's Leafs. They'd consistently get outshot badly but win on the back of amazing goaltending.
The Leafs were superb defensively tonight. Anyone who blames Scrivens for the loss is out to lunch. That Hodgson goal was a joke, it was about two feet wide and went off his hand and in.
The 2nd goal is an odd man rush, nothing Scrivens could do on that.
All in all the Leafs outshot and outplayed the Sabres in all 3 periods. 9 times out of 10, they win this game. Miller was the only reason they lost.
Should have scored on those 5 on 3s though. Was watching with my brother and told him right there, we're going to lose the game because of that.
Aside from Miller, I think the biggest difference between the two teams is that their tough guys can actually play the game.
Miller was not some superhuman tonight. There must be dozens of people in this thread talking about how he was the difference, stole the game, etc.
How many odd-man rushes did he face? Zero, that I saw. How many shots where he was screened and couldnt see? I counted one all game, and that includes the long 2-man advantage. How many deflections did he face? Zero. How many shots from the slot? How many cross-crease plays?
The Leafs got a lot of shots, that doesn't mean they were good opportunities. Our best opportunities never even resulted in a shot on goal.
Another thing, I didn't get to see the whole game til the 3rd, but why were Franson and Komi scratched? I thought both of them played very well Saturday, especially Franson. Is it cause Carlyle just wants to rotate d-men? I don't get why Carlyle doesn't just let Franson play...

Gardiner should be back Wednesday, meaning one of Fraser or Holzer needs to be sent back down. I'm assuming this was the audition.
I don't understand where this "floating" term comes from with Kadri. All I see from him is him being engaged along the boards in the o zone and d zone.
HFBoards is never going to admit Kadri is better than Schenn.
His numbers offensively and defensively have been much better than Brayden Schenn.
Kadri would be hailed as a great prospect if he was on the Flyers.
Only reason Kadri gets trashed is because there is SO MUCH LEAFS COVERAGE...Eakins says one thing about Kadri that isn't good, and it gets published right away.
What about the countless good things he say about him? No where to be seen.
Positives don't sell papers. Kadri's body fat sells their papers.

Beats me. Kadri is a wrecking ball out there on the ice.

Gard is 100% healthy, they're just getting him a couple practices in. Carlyle wants to see all of his dmen so he can decide who to demote. He specifically said it was nothing they did, just there turn to sit. I expect Holzer and Fraser will be sitting again nxt game.

There are bigger floaters on this team than Kadri. Yet they still get more TOI.

Yeah the first goal was total B.S. The puck was going 4-5 feet wide and then it hits Hodgson on his arm or shoulder and goes in..and then the second one is pretty much a break away. Yet people will blame Scrivens LOL

Seriously what exactly has made Brayden Schenn this "god" on Hfboards?

So far this year he is. If he keeps it up he'll be a star not just a player.

Scott was the worst player on the ice and Kaleta took 2 stupid penalties, the second lead to the Leafs only goal. Our 4th line was better than theirs tonight.
Anyone have any speculation as to how Carlyle will implement Steckel? McClemment seems to be doing great with the two tough guys. Legit 4th line.
Brown - McClemment -Steckel?
